I was going through my pictures of the summer and I found this one which I took at work. This happened in July in the park when an ambulance was racing to a potential heart attack victim.

The mini van in the picture cut off the ambulance causing it to flip over.

No one was seriously hurt.

That's one way to get an upgrade.
I like the term racing. Emergency equipment should not be racing. Volunteers think leaning on the siren will clear the path. Not. With today's stereo's air conditioner unit's; cell phones and a general why do I have to pay attention, it's dangerous to drive let alone drive at a high speed racing. That rig surely did not help anyone and caused more problems. Drive defensively.

Do we know the ambulance was driving fast? I got the sense that "racing" was used in the first post to just express that it was going on an emergency run. Perhaps you have some other information, but I see nothing in the first post that claims the ambulance was at fault.

On another note, I loved working in the van types. Of course, I never rode a volunteer rig with five other people. It was just me and a partner and it was nice to have everything just a few feet away as opposed to having to get up and reach. I found myself seat-belted for most of the ride in the smaller rigs.

Robert:

Last I knew the IBSP lifeguards were operating on 159.40500 with a PL of 179.9.

Here's one from New Hamshire Ave in Toms River...
