OLD stuff
Yeah, but have you seen what they are still using for the lowband equipment? They are still relying on 1970's radio equipment for Lowband. In the cars they are still running 4 channel Micor's or Mastr II's for the mobiles,( a very few Lowband X9000's are floating around) and VHF MT500's (some of the lucky ones have Saber I's) for the Pac-RT's. And for a while they got away from the 1/4 wave ballmount antennas and went to a baseloaded NMO mount antenna on the rear edge of the trunk. Not the best antenna setup for lowband. When I was back home again in Indiana last August, it looked like they were going back to the ballmount 1/4 wave antennas.
In the Posts, some are still running /\/\ centracom 1's, which are little more then some switches and speakers on a office desk. Base equpment is either Mastr II or Micor lowband base stations.
All the stuff is OLD and most likely just plain worn out. If they were to update the equipment and towers, it would probably be a decent system again, but with Saf-T, they are just limping the old stuff along untill the whole state can come online.
