Illinois State Police Collinsville District 11 Trooper Nick Hopkins was killed in a shootout in E. St. Louis on Friday 8/23/19 serving a no-knock search warrant at 5:30 AM with other members of an ISP SWAT team. He was 33 and left a wife and 3 children. He served with the ISP for 10 years. I did not know him but I know his father well and he is an alderman in Waterloo, IL. The town is decorated with US flags along the route of the funeral procession to the cemetery. I have heard there will be over 600 Police cars from around the country to take part. The whole town is heartbroken. Rest In Peace Trooper Hopkins.
