I recently got back into scanning. Upgraded to a digital scanner (BCD436HP). Curious as to where ISPERN can he found now? The VHF channels are quiet. I have SC21 programmed in and see an ISPERN patch on ISP Dist. 5- the closest to me- but I've never heard traffic on that TG. Will County's EDACS had an ISPERN TG that worked great but it's no longer listed in the database.

Any ideas?

ISPERN, Will County

ISPERN patches are on Starcom21. ISP-5 Joliet has ISPERN broadcasts, I hear them myself and I'm up north of Schaumburg IL. Will County's StarCom21 Control channel is listed as 773.33125c* The old Conventional 155.475 still works as well as 470.4375 in DuPage County along with a NIFREN patch at 470.3625. These both can be heard a long distance. I never get rid of the old VHF frequencies as I have found they DO come in handy from time to time even though our area is encrypted except for fire. Have fun with the new Uniden. I'm getting either one of those or the WS1080 soon

Often they will patch the ISPERN talkgroup with the A channel when they do broadcasts so you might catch the traffic on 5A. On the EDACS system, the ISPERN patch seems to be on the talkgroup labeled "Countywide Aid" (04-033). I caught ISPERN traffic on that this past weekend traveling through Will County.

If you're close enough to pick up the Grundy County TRS they have an ISPERN patch as well.

The broadcasts still go out on 155.4750, just make sure you don't have a PL set on it - ISP broadcasts with no tone (for now at least)

The Ducomm patch 470.4375 is fantastic, I'm on NW side of Chicago & easily pick up almost all the ISP districts, it's great. I also use the Dist. Chicago TG for ISPERN 9051 & the regular 155.475 but they're not as good.

Most if not all ISPERN messages from Du Page county's UHF patch are clear with mobile relay with certain agencies. The VHF ISPERN 155.475 is usually one sided dispatch unless the action is nearby.

ISPERN broadcasts come in loud and clear on three different multi-cast frequencies DOJ allocated: 170.8125, 171.4375 and 171.6875 P25 Digital Traffic.

I also heard CCSP on ISPERN with 67.0 PL. I presume that the use of this PL is to allow for patch connections to StarCom21.

For a long time CPD and CCSPD shared an ISPERN transmitter with wireline control points. I wonder if they still do?
