Im using an SDS-100 to scan the OKC P25 PII system. I receive OCPD without issue, but I am experiencing a bit of an issue with the FD dispatches. I hear rigs and handhelds loud and clear, but the dispatch consoles come across loud and distorted. It is more pronounced with a few of the "older" sounding dispatchers so I am wondering if it is just their headset mic. Any ideas on something I can do to fix that?

Otherwise, I am loving my SDS-100 after upgrading from a BCD436HP.

Some of the FD dispatchers sound like they are using the console microphones like they are talking on a CB radio. Sometimes you can actually hear them breath - just way too close to the microphones, and always causing audio overload. I don't think there is anything you can do to fix their microphone technique.

I have heard FD dispatches where I could not understand a word said.

Yeah I have stood right by the ff’s before when disp is talking and it sounds the same on their own radios. They are going thru a console too and not directly into a radio like field units are doing so there is that.

I call one of the dispatchers "Billy Bob". I think he must be one of those good ol' boys.

I have thought about using a "graphic equalizer" in order to maybe clean up some of the comms, has anyone ever done this?
