Also keep in mind the state is rolling out radios state wide for the troopers that can do NXDN and DMR. Then all that’s left is for the agency in question to be willing to give up their encryption key. Not only is Benton encrypted they’re a multi site IP link system with roaming.

So the state radios won't be able to pick up encryption? with their new radios with NXDN is what your saying? unless they (BENTON) give up encryption ..so why would they spend the money unless they have already agreed on this.. (wrapping my head around this) thank you

No. The agency in question would need to be willing to share the encryption key with the state IF they want MSHP to be able to listen or talk on the system.

If Benton county is willing to share the info with state…troopers having access will still take some time. Sometiems the vendor drags their feet with getting programming together for the state. Plus, several troopers still have the old analog only radios in their cars for their “county radios”.

Even in Polk where many of the troopers have access to the county NXDN system and bolivar’s DMR system most communication is done over the phone between dispatch.

Here is my two cents ...MOWIN was set up to solve this problem years ago...yes I understand cost was a factor for counties ..but I thought there would be state money that would come in to play for this for the county's...I just don't understand what happened... all the towers ....then all of the sudden all these counties went every witch way with radios... Nobody can talk with nobody without having boatload of radios in the unit...MOWIN was a bust?...you tell me...

My guess as a complete outsider- this
...cost was a factor for counties...
and not enough of this
...state money that would come in to play for this...
were the two major things that held back participation.

The First interop with a "non-E" dept will be an eye-opener, I hope no one gets hurt.
Hey, I love your accurate response.

Being a listener for over 35 years, you are not wrong. Having the ability to monitor the area around you gives extra life saving response times. Especially for areas that use volunteers and/or reserves. Back when I was in the fire service, having the ability to monitor dispatch agencies outside my department, I was able to start responding 1-2 mins before the big central dispatch actually toned out our department.

The same thing for an agency that was having a pursuit, major disaster, severe weather outbreak etc. It's no joke!

Another scenario is reports to dispatch- traffic backups, hazards such as debris on the roadway, ice /snow hazards, the amount of cars involved in the accident, powerlines down etc has a 50/50 chance of being pass along to responding agencies. The game telephone comes to mind... we all know how that ends up.

The amount of times state replies to dispatch and says, they heard directly from an agency before their dispatch actually dispatches info thats passed along, is proof its not an exaggeration. Dispatchers usually type out the info into the CAD System, prior to dispatching the info anyway, another time delay, that can be avoided.
