I might be taking a trip to Italy this summer. I was wondering if anyone has any info on the types of radio systems they use there.

Thanks,

Ian

I was in Rome last year and noticed that the police at the airport had what appeared to be VHF low-band radios. I think that the fire department is also VHF lo. Not sure about other police agencies. Unfortunately, I did not take my scanner on that trip.

Ok thank you for the info. I checked in the database and it had the fire frequencies in the 70's or so.

I confirm that Fire dep are in low VHF (73-74Mhz) as well as National Police (76-79 Mhz) .
The other National Police Force "Carabinieri" is UHF (425) while Local Police can be in high VHF (156-174) or UHF (460-470). A TETRA National Interforce network is under deployment and active in really few areas

Due to the fact that is proibithed listen the emergency services, isn't easy find freq info.
As far as I know ther is only one good forum but is only in italian and you need to register also to read the post. If you are interested I can post the link.

But if you already know the places that you will visit, maybe I can help ...

Google Translate

If that link works - there are photos, map, and info about the Trentino Fire Radio Shop

(I was just doing a little research on Italy when I found this thread).
