I noticed I have not heard them for several days, possibly weeks on their talkgroup 10852.

Anyone else notice this and figured out where they are now?

I heard/saw a News story that IUPUI was disbanding, or splitting, like IPFW did in Fort Wayne. The Fort Wayne campus is now known as Purdue Fort Wayne. I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with the PD this immediate though.

I thought the IUPUI split announcement was a little strange. My degree which I got in 1989 plainly states that it's from Purdue University at Indianapolis. Yet, when I requested a copy of my transcript, it came from Indiana University. I think it's going to be very odd to have two universities operating on what is essentially one campus. If a Purdue student needs to do research in the library, which will probably be run by IU, will that student be allowed access and be able to check out books?

But, I digress. I can see IU wanting all of their police officers to operate on the same radio system. But, it certainly makes sense for them to operate on the IDPS system since the campus is part of downtown. Maybe they've changed talkgroups?

Is it possible they moved to Statewide Access on SAFE-T? Seeing plenty of 49XXXXX IDs on there
Yes, they are on SAFE-T TG 21763. I heard them mention Barnhill and Michigan as well as Taylor Courtyard. 300 units.

I haven't listened enough to hear if the remote small IU campuses are still using this TG as well.

With TG 21763 becoming IUPUI PD dispatch, I listened to the Broadcastify archives of TG 21520. It's now the small IU campus PDs that previously used TG 21763.

Units - Campus
  • 100s - IU NW
  • 200s - IU Kokomo
  • 400s - rarely used, never mention any landmarks, 49xxxxx RIDs (some IU Kokomo units use these IDs too)
  • 600s - IU SE
  • 700s - IU South Bend
  • 800s - IU East

So these two TGs are somewhat statewide TGs? I wonder if these TGs are allowed on sites between the campuses, for traveling purposes.

IU Statewide access TG's are allowed on all but a very few sites. Makes me wonder who will get the old IU PD TG's now that they are clear of them on IDPSC. Wonder if PU PD will take over on the PU side. When I first came to Indy, it WAS IUPUI PD (Even had a special livery too. IUPUI Police with a "Jaguar" themed color scheme, which the buses still have), then IU PD took over full LEA ops on campus and PU had NO LEA presence (All units plain white with Indiana University Police livery). Now with the split, will PU PD now come in?

On a similar theme: What will happen to campus ops and the TRS set up? Looks like we may have to re ID TG usage once they get it all split up again. Who get to run Campus Center? IU or PU? Etc... (Currently purely IU with all staff wearing IU uniforms.)

From monitoring, 21763 is Statewide 1, 21520 is Statewide 2. You can frequently hear units calling in saying "XXX, IU, on 2"

Do they say the word "Statewide", or could it possibly be "Disp 1" and "Disp 2"?

They just say on one, and on two. As they are both statewide regional access that would mean SW1 and SW2 until we get to actually get codeplugs or hands on a radio.

As of today IU PD is back on MESA using their TG's just like usual. Not sure why they were silent for a while, but they are using it again as of today!

Not sure if this TG was/is IU PD, as you gents have hashed out previously on here, but, it was alive and active with PD-type traffic in the Richmond area today.....

other question is why is this marked as "DEPRECATED" in the SAFE-T system "tag" area....

It shouldn't be marked as Deprecated.

@Mattnik can you fix that?

Yep, because if not before the next system sweep, it will auto delete it. (Unless things have changed again.)

What TGs need to be un-deprecated? Specifically.

If you guys see something that is wrong, do a submission on it, that way I can grab it. I don't always check the forums as often as the submissions.

Matt

OK I got a submission for 21520, it has been re-added to the IU category. Not sure that's where it belongs, but if it truly is a statewide dispatch thing then that's probably appropriate.

The reason it was deprecated IIRC is someone reported that they moved back to the *INSERT WHATEVER MECA IS CALLED THIS WEEK* system. I get a lot of the "HeY XX dEpartMEnt hAS moved to The NEWesT sysTem" type submissions. I try and vet what I can, but it's not always the easiest to do, especially since I don't monitor MECA/MECS/UCIM whatever its called now. Just some SAFE-T and other local stuff.

Sorry for the miss.

Matt
