I am new to scanners and I originally wanted a scanner to keep up with what was going on traffic wise when I travel. Speed traps, accidents etc. I was lucky to have Erik in the Downtown Denver RS help me because he is very knowledgeable about the subject and got me programed for what I was looking for. I have been reading everything I can about the subject and trying to soak up as much info as I can. I have purchased Win500 and got a subscription to radioreference.com. Now the questions:

1. When in Stalker mode the unit will hang up on a machine gun type signal and will not move on until I hit an arrow key. I'd like it to pick up signals close to me while traveling as well as it does in scan mode. Any advice?

2. I have not yet been able to pick up a CB signal in search mode. Erik suggested that I may need an external antenna and this may be the case but I can't even pick up a signal when standing outside. What am I doing wrong?

3. I have been able to send the sound from the scanner to the aux port in my car and this works very well when I am traveling alone. The output on the radio uses a stereo jack and will work on any system that will accept an mp3 player. What I want now is an ear bud for just one ear when others are in the car and not as enthusiastic about the scanner as I am. All the ear buds that I can find have a mono jack on them. Does any one make a mono ear bud with a stereo jack that would work on the scanner?

Since my firsts posts were held in purgatory, this did not get seen as it was not released until it was on page 2. I am therefore posting again to give this a friendly bump in case someone might have some helpful answers.

Thanks,
Lance

For #1 you can lockout up to 250 nuisance frequencies for the stalker to ignore and look for more interesting hits.

Try turning off the 800mhz band in the Signal Stalker. It sounds like the Stalker is scanning the 800mhz band and is stopping on a trunked system control channel if you say your getting a machine gun type sound. So try turning the 800mhz band sweep off and that should solve your problem.

I don't think you will get very much range on CB if you want really hear anything with any range you need a CB and a CB ant. I don't think Erik knows as much about scanning as he thinks he does.

I agree with the post above about the control channel.

What kind of freqs. are you wanting to hear?

I have a Pro-67, Pro-164, and Pro-96. None of them pickup the CB channels well, unless you are "on top" of someone. That's why I carry a "handheld" CB!
