I'm trying to setup OP25 running on a Raspberry Pi 4B+ and I am having trouble identifying the actual control channel frequency. It doesnt seem to be one of rhe 4 listed in the database.

Actually, I am trying to connect to the Jackson County Trunk, which is a Motorola Type 2 SmartZone. I am connected to it with my BCD325P2, but cant determine which control channel frequency it is using. I am trying to set up a base scanner with a Raspberry Pi and can't seem to find the Control Channel with it. As I am on the very edge of the county, I may be too far from a site to be able to have good enough reception to receive it. I am just trying to find out what frequency is actually being used instead of running in circles trying to find the correct frequency

LOL if you have a scanner then use it to find the control channel. It looks like it's 854-858 Mhz. You're bound to hear something...

If you're on a rubber duck antenna inside the house then you may need to go outside and/or get an external (outdoor) antenna.

I've never used a 325P2, but the stock image of it shows it locked on a trunking system. A frequency is displayed with DAT next to it. I assume this would be the active control channel. https://wiki.radioreference.com/images/b/bf/BCD325P2.jpg

This is an old system. Normally with old systems, they are replaced by new digital ones on the same license / frequencies OR a new license entirely. However this system has been updated very recently so I feel like it is still online.

You may have to go to one of the sites on the license / do some detective work. I would first program all the site frequencies (ALL of them) into a conventional test bank. Scan them. If you hear nothing or garbled mess, get closer. Repeat as necessary until you have good decode reception or you are right up on the tower. This will test frequency, decoding, location, programming, and reception problems all in one go.

Thats it. I was just having trouble locking on it as my reception is not so good on the sdr that I am using. I am going to have to get a better antenna to get it to work reliably.

Very good.
I am in Gulfport and cant monitor the system but I could just barely detect that is was most probably the CC.
Good luck,
Ed
