MORGAN COUNTY - A 9-year-old Littleton boy was in critical condition Sunday after being thrown from a boat along with his father and his 10-year-old cousin.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office says Tommy Hoefler was trapped underneath a boat on Jackson Lake Saturday when high winds capsized the boat. Bystanders, Jackson Lake park rangers and firefighters with the Wiggins Fire Department were able to pull Tommy's father Mark and his cousin Jade Hoefler out of the water. However, when the boat was rolled over, Tommy was found submerged in the 50-degree water and not breathing.

EMS personnel were able to resuscitate Tommy and he was airlifted to the Children's Hospital. Mark Hoefler, 43, was flown to Swedish Hospital for treatment of hypothermia, according to the sheriff's office. Ten-year-old Jade Hoefler of Denver was not hurt.

Although Tommy Hoefler was not wearing a life preserver, deputies say it appears there were life preservers on the boat for everyone on board.
