Hello all, does anyone know if Jacobi Hospital uses any radio frequencies for medevacs using their helipad or is it just done over the phone? I know that helicopters go there from all over the tri-state area.

Thanks in advance.

I know how "outsider" responses are oh so valued on the NY forum. Not finding any submitted info in the RRDB for this hospital. If you have a DMR capable radio, plug in 463.9125 and see if there's any inner-facility activity there

Have you checked...

The frequencies for the former is registered to many different licenses so I probably would end up hearing a bunch of unrelated things. I have been listening to the NYS Medevac frequencies that are closer to the NYC area (for example Hudson Valley), but I wasn't listening yesterday when a medevac came in to land  . I also put in some frequencies that I found in this thread from 7 years ago LifeNet Helicopter Emergency Medical Services

Though 2 NJ ships of the same project have the ability to tx on EMS C/W, there is no "all the time" comms from air medical to the helipad used for Jacobi's ihops as it's an FAA designated LZ and therefore does not require air to ground (and vice versa) communication.

As a retired FDNY/EMS Lt. who used to work in the Bx. I can tell you for a fact that anything coming to Jacobi by medevac is done over the phone. They do NOT use the radio in the ER unless a disaster has been declared. Also FDNY/EMS now has a channel in their radio system for stand by's and notifications to the ER's instead of going thru the regular dispatchers.

Try listening to the MED 1-10 channels if you haven’t

Occasionally I will hear the helicopters on MED 1 468.000 talking to Westchester giving their report

Let me correct that, FDNY/EMS has a dedicated channel in their system for notifications and stand by's to the hospitals that goes thru an FDNY/EMS dispatcher that is dedicated to that so they do not go thru the boro dispatcher anymore. The dispatcher on that channel then makes the notification to the hospital by phone. This is restricted to ONLY FDNY/EMS, Voluntary Hospital and Volunteer units authorized to work in the NYC 911 system ONLY. Medivacs do NOT have access to this channel. If a unit comes on the radio without a unit identifier they will be told they are not authorized and no other communication will take place with that unit!! ALL FDNY/EMS, Voluntary and Volunteer units in NYC have radios with the unit identifier in them issued by the FDNY/EMS to those units, mobiles and portables so every unit authorized to work in the FDNY/EMS System has a unit and radio identifier.
