Have had this net active for most of the day today. I can't afford to give it a whole bank for space reasons so am monitoring it in conventional frequency mode. Although the system is described in the database as being analog, it has been digital all day today. Most of the activity is on 167.0125 and the control channel on 166.025. They have been doing practice surveillance activity and attempting to find and follow a vehicle. I understand this facility is used by many agencies for training.

[Edited to correct Mr. Rowley's name]

I added the digital voice type notation to the system. This is the US Secret Service training center.

I noticed. Super fast too. I've never really paid attention to these folks but thought I'd give it a shot after reading that the President goes there for physical workouts - bike riding, etc.

They do neat stuff over there. Most of the training is for USSS. Car chases, simulated VIP protection. There are several roads there named after strets in DC. 16th St, H St. They have a large driving pad about 500 ft x 500 ft, used for practicing J-turns, evasions etc. They train with paint balls fired from 9mm's..ouch!!!

Yes, "simunitions" sure are interesting. Got to fire an Uzi w/ live ammo full-auto many years ago - In high school a friend's dad was a training instructor there. I guess the rounds I lodged in the ceiling of the range didn't count as "scored hits"...

They are very active again today. This time, however, it doesn't sound like training (although by the very nature of this unit it almost must be training) and the signal is just booming. They seem to be actively searching for a vehicle. Most active freq is 167.0125.

[Edit] Now they are referring to whomever they are searching for as the "rabbit." Hmmm...where have I heard that term before? And they are now in a mall somewhere.

[Edit] Their target just went from the food court to a jeweler and spent $650. If you're out shopping and see a bunch of guys having a conversation with their armpits or collars, it's our trainees....mentioned going back to Burlington Coat Factory. They are at the Arundel Mills Mall (no wonder they are so loud today). He's now left the mall and is travelling with an escort of several cars going toward Balt-Wash Parkway. South on BW, speed 70. The digital signal won't modulate any longer as they hit Rt 32. This is a dead spot for cell phones also. Will probably get them again when they reach Laurel.

[Final Edit] Nope...when they reached to about Laurel I got bits and pieces of the transmissions but the simplex transmissions from the cars were just too weak. If they were analog instead of digital it wouldn't have been a problem. This is turning out to be an interesting net to listen for.
