>> Would that be a big paperclip or the small kind?

The small ones are fine for 800 MHz., but if you want to listen to NCHP on low band, bring a large one ... the ones shaped like a folded dipole element, so you can aim it.

And make sure the paperclip is metal ... the plastic ones have no gain.

>> Jeff, are you gonna try and make it up here for the meeting?

I take 6 weeks off from work, and y'all wait until my first day to return back to work to have a get-together.

Seriously, I'm going to try to make it, because I'd be embarrassed if Marshall made it there, and I didn't.

( Down the other end of my county, fire and ems is working an accident as mixed precipitation is falling. Two guys wrecked ... one was thrown from the car, and hit by another vehicle as he laid in the road. He's a fatality. It sounds like the other guy will be flown by helo to Columbia, if weather permits. )

Is this an open meeting for all listeners in the Charlotte area?
If so, count me in. And I will probably bring another scanner buddy with me.

just for confirmation:
Tryon House
01-15-2010 @ 17:30?

Thanks,
Thomas

Thomas,
Yep. That is the whole purpose of this meeting: get as many radio geeks in one place as possible. :D
It does not matter if you enjoy monitoring HF, Military, VHF/UHF above. As we say up here in the Tarheelscanner group: We cover "DC to Daylight". If it has a number attached to it: we have someone in the group who will listen to it. We welcome all radio geeks.

Now a note: I am doing everything I can to make this next week, HOWEVER in the minuscule chance that something falls through and I can't make it (I hope I don't even have to worry about this BUT) I do want the meeting to go on and I want as many of you to show up as possible. This meeting is for you Charlotte radio buffs. This is for your group.
Please don't let me be the reason that this group is not formed.
You have enough experienced radio buffs in that area that you should be able to make this a monthly occurrence.

Again, I am doing all that I can to make it there from here in Raleigh so lets keep our fingers and toes crossed.

Thanks!

Allright Guys,
Here is how things are looking now:
I will leave work early Friday afternoon and
drive down to the Tryon House for the meeting.
After the meeting ends I will have to drive back up
here to Raleigh that same evening due to some scheduled
events the next day (Saturday).
Please help us get word out about the meeting!
Tell all of your radio hobbyist friends that all are welcome
whether or not you are a Ham Radio Operator.
As long as you love radio feel free to join us!
Hope to see you on Friday!
Happy Monitoring

Sounds like a good plan Marshall, glad you're gonna tough it out and make the drive down and back up. So just to reinterate again for you folks, this will be at the Tryon House-Eastway at 530 PM. I'll call back in a lil while and make sure everything is still available. Directions can be referenced above with Jeff's post and if anyone has questions feel free to text or call me. PM or email me if you want my number.
