Does anyone know how to setup the Jacksonville Beach, FL Motorola System on the BC245XLT? It has 5 frequencies like most of the systems that I monitor do. But I still cannot get my scanner to decode any talkgroups. Need some major immediate help, Thanks. Jay.

If I understand you correctly, you're wanting to listen to Jacksonville's TRS with 245XLT. Well, my friend, I'm afraid you will not be able to monitor Jax TRS with a non-digital scanner. They are using a 3600 Astro 25 system. That means you'll need a 250D with a card, a 296D, a 785D with a card, a 796D or a 396T. Also your Radio Shack Pro96 is an option for you. But the 245 or 235 will not function with this type of system. To add, Jacksonville and Duval County uses encryption on the police and sheriff's department. Only the fire department is monitorable.
I'm sorry if this isn't news worthy. But scanners like the 235 and 245 are a rarity for the modern trunking systems. However, the 235 and 245 has it's place in scanning, it's just unfortunate that Jacksonville-Duval County isn't one of them.

I apologize. I didn't realize that Jacksonville Beach had a totally different system to Jacksonville's. I was under the notion that Jacksonville's TRS had migrated all of Duval County's townships. After reviewing the Database, I now see that Jacksonville Beach has a standalone analog system. However, I still recommend that you upgrade your radio for the restructuring of the public safety band. The 245 will not be able to follow the new bandplan. Only the 246T, the 296D, the 796D, the 396T or the Pro 96 will have the upgradeable function to follow the future bandplan.

First question where do you live? The Jax Beach System is not a very powerfull system,so you may not be able to track it from your location.I get spotty receiption in far west Arlington (north of J.U.).If you are at the beach , East Arlington or Southside you should be recieving it.If not make sure you are programing the freqs in Trunk mode.Shep

I live in souther clay county. but when i go to the north part of the county i always hear the jacksonville analog on first coast radio fine even in the south part of the county. i do understand that some systems ranges are not that good. i have tried to monitor the system from even the downtown area of jacksonville but still unable to program the talkgroups or decode any of them. I have also tried to monitor it from the westside (Normandy) and northside (zoo) still no success. Ill try it from the southside area and see what i can come up with.

suttles is batting zero. The Jacksonville Beach system will not be impacted by rebanding. The 245 will continue to receive it.

My experience with Jax Beach MOT

I too have been waiting to hear something from the Jax Beach MOT system the last two months since I got my Pro-97 but I was under the impression that it was down temporarily for reconstruction but that it would be back up as the same system it was before, dunno.

But I didn't think about the range of the system. The closest I get to Jax Beach is where I work...at Baymeadows and I-95. Not that far from the beach I would say but maybe that's why I can't pick it up. On one single ocassion Jax Bch popped up on my scanner for like a second, I heard a brief transmission but that was it. I use a RS 800mhz antenna.

Anyway, if it is up and running, I look forward to being at the Sea and Sky Show at the Beach coming up in November. First airshow with a scanner, very excited, and I should be able to pick up the MOT system then with ease.

If anyone is currently hearing traffic on this system like Shep please post the location you're hearing it from...Thanks

Jax Beach Traffic

I was visiting my daughter who lives in Jacksonville Beach for Labor Day. I monitored a lot of traffic on the Jax Beach system using the listings for the system here in Radio Reference. I even was able to copy a surveillence or under cover sting operation late that Saturday night. I use a BCD396T with a Radio Shack 800 mhz antenna and received the comms just fine.

Correct. The radios they carry have ofb boards for First Coast System so they can talk to JSO,Neptune Beach, and Atlantic Beach.I don't know if they included analog encryption formats when they ordered their radios, but I have never heard it on their system.Shep

Lmao!! That Is Funny!! But Hey You Are Right.. The System That We Are On Does Suck At Times. If I Were The Public Safety Director Or The County Commissioners I Would Do Something About It. But Im Not And With Me Being A Firefighter There Is Not Much Advice That My County Listens To From Their Employees Whether It Is Career Or Volunteer.
