A man who was found Monday with a gunshot wound to the head in the parking lot of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office shot himself, deputies said.
The man was taken to a hospital and is still alive, Jacki Kelley, sheriff’s spokeswoman, said. However, Kelley did not know the man’s condition or the hospital where he was being treated.
Deputies interviewed a witness who was in the west parking lot of the sheriff’s office, which is in Golden, shortly after the gunfire occurred, the spokeswoman said.
Kelley said deputies had interviewed a witness who was in the west parking lot of the sheriff’s office at the time to figure out why the individual shot himself.
Deputies don’t think the man had spoken with deputies prior to shooting himself, Kelley said.
