The office of telecommunications is in the process of programming all fire and ems radios with the same channel configuration. Example: Channel 1 in our radios will be the same as everybody else. I will post more info. when i get it.

Im curious as to how this is going to work. There are many radio's that need to be programmed different.
Example: WJEMS / EJEMS Channel "B" Supervisor Only Channel - Wont be programmed into street medic radio's for obvious reasons

Channels "F" for both EJ and WJ - For obvious reasons the other services's Med Control wont be in the radio

WJEMS Channel "D" - Westwego doesnt have this channel, maybe they might get it now?

On the EMS side, im curious to see how this turns out...

I would expect everyone to have the same firegrounds/tacs in thier radios,.. with private use tg's for thier supervisors etc... With the fg's assigned on a per usage basis to each individual dpt.... And the medcom tg's would be universal as they all encode to the same hospitals correct?

Ex- Dispatch A, with maybe a B
Tac A, B, C, D, etc. assigned as needed..
Private/Command/Admin for each dept.
Common/Mutual aid
Possibly a Training for each dept
Med TG's for each Hospital ER...
A common Medcom

This of course would be the logical way to do it.. but then again I don't know if the Parish Admin is on the same brain wave LOL

Can't open in that format as much as I have tried. Please leave your e-mail address so I can contact you for a download in another format if you can do it. Thanks.

In reply to "to a type 2 system to where all you have to do is change it on your scanner" No you will have to manually change the talkgroups as they are different. example the new east bank fd channel is 63696. Also I was told that the system wont go live till am radio check on thursday the 7th . Who knows when but well just have to wait and see i guess.

You do understand that if you set your scanner for a Type II system, you will only see Type II TG type info, no matter what type of system it is, don't you? The thing is, if you don't ignore the status bits (providing you have a scanner capable of this) you will see odd looking TG #'s. This is always a clue that you are looking at a Type I system.

On Tuesday The City of Kenner FD and city services have switched over to their type II talkgroups. Everyone else should be switching over in the next few days.

I suppose that this system change would explain why I heard two different users on the same talkgroup id??
I haven't monitored this system ( or this forum) for a few months. I turned on the scanner and heard Lafreniere Park comms on talkgroup 601-01. Different from where they once were, 105-05. I held the scanner on the 601-01 talkgroup and heard comms other than Lafreniere Park. All this took place after lunch on July 6,2005.

The switch was officially made a few minutes ago around 0840. I guess now the fun will begin. The radios we have have an ABC switch. If you accidently hit it it will go to the eoc channel and you won't know it. Fire alarm is supposed to monitor that channel just in case, butttttttttt. If your in a burning building and ABC switch is hit, wellllllllll.

Most of the fire departments switched to their backup conventional channels during this morning's radio test. The system went into failsoft at about 1100 this morning. It came back up around 1200 and all users are now on their type II talkgoups. The SYSID remains the same.

What does all this mean as far as the talkgroups go? Are they going to all change or stay the same? I imagine they will change, right?
