Heard traffic on TG 15344 tonite at 8pm, Engine 1 and 2 responded to a medical call on 87th St. NE.

Anybody know who it is?

Eddie, I have 15344 tentatively as Center Point Fire.

I've heard them dispatch Engine 1 to a medical on 8th St. NE, which is about a mile from Center Point Elementary School.

My map's index doesn't have a 87th St. NE listed, but the map is a couple of years old.

I probably heard the address wrong. Just caught the dispatch while trying to read what the talk group number was. Center Point sounds like a logical fit to me. I was thinking maybe East Jefferson, but I'm not familiar with either since I'm on the west end of the county.

Maybe all the fire districts will be simulcast on the trunked system before long. Wouldn't it be nice if Maxx busses moved to another system so it would be easier to monitor for new TG's without hearing their constant chatter?

As of this afternoon they were. I heard them make a medical run.

I've found that some of the fire departments have a talk group IDs on the trunked system even though they are still using VHF. Concord, for example, is still VHF, but they have a talk group ID and their traffic is simulcast on the trunked system. So, just because you hear them on the trunked system doesn't mean they have gone to 800mhz. B'port is another example.

By the way, the dispatchers at the Sheriff's Office are dispatching the initial calls directly to B'port now, and then their people take over dispatching from there. North Star still is envolved as well.

While volunteering with Concord a few years back, I found that an unnecessary delay was occuring when the Sheriff's Office took 911 calls, dispatched their unit, if needed, called Rural Metro to relay to Concord, and in many instances, Rural Metro would dispatch their unit before finally dispatching Concord. Concord's response time was delayed by several minutes on many occasions. Not an effecient system in my opinion.

That must be why Carl is still hearing Midfield on VHF. I heard Midfield Fire test on the same TG the PD is on. Is that what you're finding?

Also, were you with Concord in the late 80's and early 90's?

I haven't been listening when Midfield tests their radios, so I can't answer that question.

I was with Concord from early 90's to late 2001. They have a great bunch of guys, although many I knew have moved on to other places.

Yes, Midfield still uses the VHF channels,They had radio service testing the Fire Department Radios last night. and Eddie, If you can find any Efficiency in Rural Metro please let me know. The average street person can out dispatch those morons. Y'all take care and i'll leave the red lights on for ya.....Carl
