Jefferson County online fire scanners

Why is it that every time we have a major incident going on like the storms tonight both the online scanners for Jefferson County fire go off-line? Both the PRP and the Okolona ones are now off-line. Earlier today at least the Okolona one was because I was listening to it

My Guess would be either Power Outage or the guy doesn't want to lose his expensive scanner to a lightning strike.

I wrote a little more in the MetroSafe forum,

Okolona's is currently working, but PRP is off the air.

You are probably correct - a power hiccup knocked the feeding computer off line. When that happens, the feed has to be manually re-established.

I don't know what PRP uses, but Okolona is using an actual MetroSafe radio versus a scanner, for the feed.
