They are listed in the RR Database under Jefferson Parish (Old Analog) System.

Doesn't match my scanner numbers at all. Completely different from my mot #

You need to convert the Motorola talk group numbers to the format that the scanners use. Motorola uses HEX for some of the radios and decimal for others.

If you go into the technical section on the web site here there is some good information on how to do this. As a person who works on comercial radios fairly often, I tend to use the hex codes that the database here gives.

As the ANALOG OLD system was supposed to be fully converted to a TYPE II by 2005..... possibly this has occured and the old TYPE I TG's would no longer be valid. This system needs to be monitored as a TYPE II and monitored closely to see if it has indeed rolled over yet. Also would be interesting to see if any of the FD/EMS ops have moved to the NEW P-25 one yet?

I just double-checked the Jeff Parish Old Analog System (@ 1830 CST, 27 JAN 05) and verified that the talk groups are still the same. I had the same experience you did when I first programmed my BC250D, then got the settings straight and the TG's match the listings in the RR Database.. Make sure you have the Fleet Map set up per the Database.

I have a letter from the parish president,s office that basically states that the old analog system will become type II this quarter in preperation for digital.

Look for the change to take place in the next 3 to 4 weeks. Only type I radios are being replaced, existing type II radios will be reprogrammed and remain in service. They can't make the switch to digital until all of the radios are replaced.

Since the system will be type II, all of the talkgroups will have to change. I would not be suprised to see a new system ID as well.

An interesting comment. This caused me to look at the system again, this system is listed (probably incorrectly) as a TypeIIi Hybrid. Since there are no reported TypeII blocks in the fleetmap, indeed no TypeII talkgroups listed, I have to assume the system type is incorrect. However, I am not sure why you think the system ID would have to be changed. This would cause even more problems and expense in reprogramming as every radio, including those that might belong to other systems but have permission to use would have to be reprogrammed with a "new" allowed SysID. And since there would be a transition period, they would have to again be reprogrammed to remove the old SysID from the allowed list.

In any case, those of you there, keep us informed. If anybody could sit Trunker (or one of the clones) on the system for the next several weeks it would be great to start being able to map the change as it happens. I would love to do it myself, but "skip" just won't reach SD and I won't be back in the area until next fall at the earliest.

The system is correcty listed as Type IIi. They have type II radio ID's operating in Type I blocks. All talkgroups are Type I.

Every radio will be reprogrammed.

Yes, I agree it is Type IIi. My problem was with the "Hybrid" name hung on. Type IIi indicates Type II radios used on a Type I system. Hybrid usually means the system has at least one Type II block or is using Type II talk groups somewhere. This one doesn't seem to have that, but checking on the choices available, it appears that Type IIi w/o the Hybrid isn't available as a classification choice to us here. :?

And of course when it changes to Type II, all the radios will be reprogrammed. :)

Would certainly love to know the correct talkgroup Id's or some formula to find out which talkgroup is which.

I take it this means the conversion to TypeII has happened or is happening?

Just listened again (~2100 CST, 16 MAR 05) on the Jefferson Analog system; talkgroups I'm receiving are still the same, match the ones published in the RR Database (e.g., 013-7, East Jefferson EMS, 500-8, Fire Alarm District 8, etc.).

Retcapt, when I first setup my scanner, I was getting wacky talkgroups on the JP system, too. Then I reset to Type 1 with Fleetmap programmed per RR Database:

Type B0 B1 B2 B3 B4 B5 B6 B7
Mot B B C C D D J J
TT S2 S2 S3 S3 S4 S4 S10 S10

That worked like a champ. If you haven't already done so, try this; it should take care of things!
