I have the Floyd County and Clark County frequencies in my RS Pro 96 and I was with an officer the other day and he had his PD issued portable with him and there is appartently some other frequencies other than what is in the database because he was picking up some traffic not coming through on the scanner, does anyone know of any other counties they might be using or any other frequencies not in the database?

Thanks,
Chip

Is it possible you were hearing a scanner? Or they could still be using their old simplex and repeater channels, as those should be compatible with the radios they have... and one other possibility could they have been using the ITAC frequencies.

Or do they have VHF radios for use with the County or UHF for use with Clarksville?

You don't reckon that's them getting on the SAFE-T system? I think they are now using it, and have done so just recently.

Yes, they are quite active on SAFE-T system, I read he had his Pro-96 and was hearing other transmissions beside those he could already recieve. It could be unlisted groups also.

What frequencies is it that I should have in my scanner for monitoring them, I have the correct talkgroups but I'm not sure what all frequencies they are operating on, for other counties that is.

Thanks,
Chip

Do you still have their old frequencies programmed, the ones they used to use, they have some [old] new ones, and then the ones before that. Those were the old repeater dispatch for police, they could still be using those. I don't know but would be a guess.

Best way is to put the scanner into search mode on the 800MHz band. Or have one with signal stalker or close capture or a freq counter.

I have their conventional channels on there, they use those for talking car to car when they're near each other. I do ride alongs quite often with them because I am starting their explorers programs, so I am pretty familiar with everything except the new radios.

I've got the NPSPAC channels in though, maybe I'll catch something on there sometime. Seems like a lot of the transmission on my scanner is "garbled" especially inside buildings, would that be because I upgraded to 1.3 or is there any remedy to this?

Also, can you advise what counties they use frequencies on? I know for sure they use Floyd and Clark... are there any others?

There was/is a map link here that shows the mutual aid "repeaters" throughout the state and what counties/areas they cover. I can hear Morse code id's on one frequency in my area.

As to your garbled reception, don't know, some have complained about the 1.3 upgrade, but I have the 396 and get motorboating. I do know when I'm in the South areas of Jeffersonville, I receive Floyd county site better, including along Spring street. Towards the north I receive Henryville better, and sometimes I heard Jeffersonville on the Madison tower as well. Sorry can't help you more in that area.

Again the best thing is to do a search in the 800 range, they could be using unlicensed frequencies, or frequencies licensed to someone else.

If you could look at a radio and the alphanumeric labels for each channel and write those down and post here or just by looking at those would give you a better idea. A frequency counter and a key-up on each channel would give you each frequency in use. Sometimes is just take detective work and careful listening. I don't know how my counter would work on digital frequencies, most likely it would not pick anything up.

Also be careful because they do have SWAT frequencies {and could possibly be available in all radios] and they do not want those public nor should they be. Floyd County and Jeffersonville swapped their frequencies at an exercise earlier this year so they would inter-communications for operations and training.

Which Madison frequencies are you referring to... there are 3 listings for Madison.

102 *Pendleton (Madison) 856.48750 857.48750 858.48750 859.48750 859.71250 860.48750 866.40000 867.40000 868.40000*
868.87500*

132 *Anderson (Madison) 856.48750 866.46250 866.92500 867.43750 867.92500 868.43750* 868.96250*

303 *Madison (Jefferson) 856.96250 857.96250 858.96250 859.96250 860.96250* 868.86250*

I've got Clark and Floyd in mine at this time... not sure if there was a listing of what counties they operated on somewhere. Thanks.

Jefferson County, I don't regularly monitor that tower, but when I do, I often hear Jeffersonville on it. It should be the tower covering the extreme east and north-east areas of Jeffersonville.

And I would just put in the control channels for all three sites, Jefferson County, Henryville, and Floyd. It will probably do nothing, but you can try to see if tit helps.
