KP227, Welcome to Radio Reference! A Great place for Frequencies, Knowledge and Help!

For Initial Attack (IA) in Montana
On the State of Montana page in the Database, on the right-hand side of page is "State Entity"
Click on "Montana Federal"
scroll down past all the National Forest Service listings to "Interagency Dispatch Centers"
There you will find the different dispatch centers, it will list air to air (A/A), air to ground (A/G) and other frequencies.
I would select the other Dispatch Centers around your area, not just Missoula!
Aircraft while airborne can be heard a long way.
Missoula Interagency Dispatch Center has 3 A/A, and 3 A/G frequencies, plus the air tanker base frequency.
I would input all of these into your scanner.
A/A
126.05
134.5
135.4 are all am modulation

A/G
166.75
167.8875
168.0125 are all nfm modulation

Air Tanker base
123.975 am

plus add
168.65 nfm, National Flight Following, the aircraft call in on this freq to report their position and status
168.625 nfm Air Guard, for emergency use.

These should be in use during the Initial Attack phase, if the fire is not contained within the Initial Attack phase
and more air assets are ordered in for help, then a TFR (Temporary Flight Restrictions) will be issued for the area
over the fire to protect the aircraft fighting the fire. It basically restricts other aircraft from flying into this area and
causing conflicts with the aircraft fighting the fire.
The Air Attack A/A frequency will then change to a new frequency.

Hope this helps out, questions let me know.

Air Ops, may contain (depends on the size and who is in-charge)

For Jerrico the freqs are listed below

National Flight Following - 168.6500 110.9
Air Guard - 168.6250 CSQ
Tanker Base Ramp - 123.9750 AM

Sometimes the Forest Simplex is used for Helo/Air Base Ops
West 171.1375 123.0 and 171.7000 123.0
East 171.5000 123.0

Generally two Air-Ground channels, sometimes 3 maybe assigned, depends on how many near-by fires are occurring as well
as the size of the fire they are assigned to

168.3875 A/G 52 - Primary
167.4250 A/G 13 - Secondary

Generally Air-Air channels are assigned as Primary and Secondary and may be sectionalized between Fixed Wing and Rotor

123.7250 AM - Primary
124.9750 AM - secondary

States and/or Regions have been known to also implement their own Flight Following channels, out side of the NFF
151.2650 192.8 is for the DNRC

they also have their own Air-Ground on 151.2200 Pri and 141.4000 Sec

Jericho A/A Primary is 120.1500
Jericho A/A Rotor is 123.8250
Jericho A/G Pri is 169.2000 141.3 used for Recon
Jericho A/G Sec is 169.1500 110.9 used for Buckets/Cargo

Generally a good search will find all, if you spend the time.
