I'm having trouble monitoring Jersey City P25 trunking system on my HP-1, it doesn't stop on a channel if it scanning and audio doesn't come through but when I'm manually locked on a frequency the traffic comes through but it doesn't when it's scanning. Anyone else have this problem?

Over the past year, in anticipation of the announcement of the HP-2, Uniden released a series of firmware upgrades in an attempt to improve reception of digital modes, specifically P25. There have been several complaints that these upgrades actually deteriorated reception and caused problems similar to what you are describing. You can jump back to a previous version of firmware (search the forums for info and how to do that, but it's fairly easy)---- I have found that firmware version 2.03 works best for me on my HP-1.

Thanks, I'll look into it. Sucks that I have to manually switch channels to monitor freqs.

Wow Danny that sounded pritty good considering I used to monitor that system. It dosent trunk or scan for you so you have to manually toggle the channels? I hope you resolve it but when it does catch a call it sounded pritty darn good my friend!

Thanks, for some odd reason it works fine when locked in but when it scans it's choppy/robotic and locks into the frequency but the audio doesn't come through. As you can see more towards the end.

I'm roughly 12 miles away from jersey city in Brooklyn, NY so it comes in pretty good. Check out my other vid of me in yonkers, NY and picking up Warren EMS (Somerset County, NJ) roughly 50 miles away. Warren (Somerset County NJ, receiving EMS from Yonkers NY. - YouTube

I will maybe your P25 settings need to be tweeked. A friend of mine here helped me with my 536 we changed to manual and changed the threshold and wait time to 10 I think and it picks up and stays on traffic better. I can shoot him a pm or email and maybe we can help you.

i was having the same issue with my HP2.... it did not decode p-25 and phase II properly...on some systems (simulcast 500/700 mhz TRS)... i returned it and got the 536... its better, but not perfect. I receive the jersey city pd TRS here in somerset county ...low signal., but no issues on my 536.... I think the 536 has a filter that the HP series does not... and does not do well in high RF areas. and, by the way, the "warren EMS" 471.075 signal your video shows, is located on a 500 foot tower on top of a 500 foot mountain , 2 miles from me... thats why you are getting it in brooklyn
