The 460.600 192.8 has a new and different sound to me.

It sounds similar to the old FDNY DARS relay with a 1200hz tone at end of every relay.

It does not sound like a P25 TG relay but does sound perhaps like a relay of simplex. Analog.

Anyone?

Maybe using Futurecom repeaters to relay the analog FG to the trunk system
Lots of department around the country use them, It allows the FG to be a separate analog system and takes the audio and puts it over a talk group, This way if the trunk system does not cover well in that area or it fails its invisible to the FG operations and all units on the FG still hear each other. The only and safest way IMHO to operate FG in a trunk system

I have a friend that's an expert on them but I included info

I believe its a department on Long Island getting into the receive side. I've been hearing it on and off for almost a year now. I heard it a lot today, but JC didn't have a fire and they were talking about opening up ceilings and overhauling. And the PTTID was at the end of the message unlike JC where we have it at the beginning and all the new APX radios have that long annoying PTTID sound.

Did Jericho NY have a fire today? The input PL very well may be 192.8

Heard them come through JCFD 460.600 LC today for run about 12:30 pm. Just the dispatch. Watched spectrum w SDRuno and RDPdx. No other 460.600 noted. No band enhancement either. So they are LOS w same PL. Not good.

Those folks speak quickly w a noticeable accent. Clearly heard “Jericho“.

I wouldn't expect any "solution" to this problem anytime in the near future. The dispatchers still treat it as some local transmitter interfering with the JCFD repeater, trying to talk to them directly and expecting a reply. The Uniformed bosses look at it as an inconvenience, adding yet another channel to "switch to" for fire operations, which is one of the encrypted channels.

Testing today with radio checks. Not much to check, unless a receiver is somehow in CSQ.

I will say both .550 and .600 have a real strong signal. Both are close in strength. With perhaps .550 a tad more signal.

”Knock it off Jericho”.🤣

I'm sitting at the Jericho console now. Our PL is 88.5 input and output. Have the back up radio in CSQ and have Fairfield CT almost full scale, getting regular morse ID almost full scale assuming Jersey City and in the AM get ducting from another department with a crossband on the frequency. Back in the day would listen to Jersey City on the channel when it was the primary operation frequency.

Thank you for clearing that up. Back it the day we would have the PL off sometimes on the apparatus radios in JC and Fairfield CT coms in load and clear most or the time. One time they transmitted a box for a fire, JC R1 was on the air and the captain heard it not knowing the box was actually in Fairfield Ct. He acknowledged the box and JC dispatch was very confused. LoL To make things more confusing, Fairfield NJ FD is/was also on the same channel.

JC 110 watt radios in the trucks would play havoc with our portable coverage

The preamble during pretime is apparently set different throughout the city. Some radios it's a bit past the DOS coast time, sometimes just a short chirp as it should be. Either way there seems to be zero consistency. There's mutual aid channels programmed that are the complete wrong frequency. Channel announcement has high priority. But what do I know.
