According to my sources at the Jersey City Fire Department ( DIRECTORS OFFICE ) They are about 2 years away from the new system which is going to be trunked and P25 but in the clear. My agency is in line to receive one of there new radios. Anything new will keep everyone posted.

There is a UHF trunked radio system in the works that uses several Part 22 frequencies that had been petitioned by Jersey City, Fort Lee, Westchester Co. and a few others (I forget who, exactly). I know Westchester has built out their system and is now optimizing it, Fort Lee had some administrative and procedural snags with the FCC but is handling them, and I never heard anything about Jersey City's prospective system.

The efficient thing to do, if they are not getting interference from anywhere else and can get concurrence from close co-channel and adjacent channel licensees would be to roll in the existing channels into the system and trunk them, as well. There are a lot of external factors, like getting permission from other agencies, that might prohibit that from taking place.

Only posted on what I heard from the Directors office JERRY CALA. I think they know whats going on with there purposed system. I handle Weather Watch for the Fire Department, Emergency Management and the mayors office. I can be heard at times on there channel 1 and also County OEM channel, This is why our office is in line for a radio on there new system.

I don't know who Jerry Cala is. What's in your radios is your business, not mine.

Here's what I do know:
http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DA-01-1422A1.pdf

That filing must be a dead issue now, so we see an actual license for a three channel trunked system that was applied for in 2006 with a two year buildout commitment:
http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseFreqSum.jsp?licKey=2822095

East, west and fire Ch. 1. Tab over to "Buildout." They have until 06-23-2008 to build it and notify the Commission that it is built or their license expires.

902, Is the trunking system you refer to supposed to be for just the police department (that's all I see in the license) or all public safety?

The TRS is to be used for both PD & FD operations.

Expect to see Bayonne's P25 system come on line before the JC system does...
