JFK and LGA Airports

Maybe this should be in the Air monitoring forum but figured id get more here.

There are so many frequencies in the database, which ones should i put in the scanner for air traffic control and any other good frequencies.

You might also want to program in the ny nj port authority edacs system in also. Lots of good stuff going on

Nope, i have it programmed, but if someone is helping me out they definitely don't have a problem telling me if the frequencies are active.

The ny nj pa is very active. The other freqs i posted are also active but not all the exciting to listen to.

Thanks a lot xeno but i am saving my trial of PSR till when i really need it.

I will do these few frequencies by hand but thanks again for the offer.

What antenna do you use?

On my pro-160 i use the supplied pull up telescopic antenna and only the 160 for conventional analog stuff
the psr-400 that im waiting for will be for analog trucking system and will use a 800mhz rs rubber duck antenna. Im not to far from lga and about 20min from jfk and i get both system loud and clear. I dont know what part of L.I. your in but you should pick up both airports without a problem. Lately i have been listening to ny nj port auth and its very very active. lots of crazy stuff going on at the airports.

Im on the southern part of nassau (east rockaway.)

haven't tried listening yet but im sure it will be fine. I'm like 20 min- 30 min away from both

The database is also showing: 453.65 mhz as a Port Authority frequency for both airports.

Actually, that was my point. If you have the frequencies in your radio already, then you should not need to ask these questions. If you are hearing radio traffic, then the frequencies are active. You should also be able to figure out what a frequency is used for if you listen to it long enough.

This is how it works. If 2 groups are on the same freq they use different tones. JFK ops and LGA ops are on the same freq but use totally different ctcss tones. Go here for more info

Yes all the freq are good. But not active all the time. the trunked ny nj pa system is very active
