Has anyone else noticed a change in reception lately? My reception on this system seems to have diminished. I am hearing a lot more motor boating than I have in the past.

Nothing about my setup has changed. Happens when I am mobile with the Pro-106 and at my desk with the Pro-197 & Pro-106. Antenna are the same as what I have always used and the placement on my desk is unchanged. Nothing around the desk has moved or been added. Anyone noticed anything similar?

Also, I am looking at purchasing a mobile antenna, solely for this system. Anyone using anything they would recommend?

If anyone is shopping for a Pro-197... Radio Shack has them on sale for Labor Day, $329. I also received a $10 off coupon in an email from them. Figured I would share.

I finally got around to sawing down the elements. I took about 1/8 off each side. It's better but the simulcast distortion is still rendering it all pointless.

You guys aren't going to believe this, but I was picking up Johnson County from up here in Clinton County Missouri with 3-4 bars with my stock antenna on the BCD396XT Friday night. I was having some issues, but did hear traffic most times. I've never had that much skip or something... It was great...

Definitely. I could get most stuff in Leawood at 135th/Stateline before, and now can't get anything hardly at all. I now live near 135th & Antioch, and I can't get jack there (but I need to mount my antenna anyway, so this may be a bigger issue than just JoCo, since I can't get KCK or KCMO worth a damn there).

There isn't as much dispatching on the VHF channel as there used to be, though locution is still coming through on occasion.

Rumors are also circulating on the Missouri side that Jackson County may be looking at upgrading to their own P25 system in the near future to bring them up to date with KCMO and Independence (and now JoCo).

Anyone know who uses talkgroup 30037? I've noticed lots of hits while running Pro96Com this afternoon.

The Information channel is now Enc. The Community College is not listed in the DB. I'd bet they are switching over too.

They have not, still on their analog system this morning.

I've heard quite a bit of dispatching going on through the OP Sanders and OP Info talkgroups, as well as their two Tac TGs. It appears that both Tac 1 and 2, and the Info talkgroup will be encrypted 24/7, as all I've managed to hear is encrypted gibberish.

Also, the talkgroups on their old EDACS system have been relatively silent the last couple of days. Only agency I've heard on that system since Monday is JCCC PD.

I'd say the switch is in progress, or has been made, and they're cleaning up loose ends.

I believe OPPD switched Tuesday Morning.

The old EDACS is fairly quiet, occasional mic clicks are all that I have heard there.

Leawood is still on EDAC.

Anyone been watching the Fire/EMS TGs that are not on the list? Does each Fire station have an Admin, station channel, Fire and EMS TGs?

I can confirm that OPPD has moved to the new system. It's unfortunate though, because now many of their talkgroups (Info, TAC1, TAC2) appear to be encrypted whereas on the old EDACS system, they were free and clear.

Today it sounds like there is some testing taking place into Lawrence. "Radio Maintenance" is conducting the tests. It sounds like there is someone mobile in a vehicle inside Lawrence while another person is back here in JoCo receiving the transmissions. Started at 23rd (K-10) & Haskell and has since moved deeper into Lawrence and onto the KU Campus. The testers have both reported "pops", "clicks" and "dis-allowed transmissions." The only thing that I have heard is a very small amount of motorboating. Seems to be on "JoCo Common5" TG 30406.

Leawood is still on EDAC.

I've been wondering about this as well. One of my wildcards picked up a Fire being dispatched. I've only heard it once.

ECC Dispatchers referred to "Station TG's" earlier this afternoon during a short period of time when CAD was offline. I monitored my wildcards during the time CAD was down and I did not hear anything dispatched outside of "ECC Main"

Med-Act has been doing some testing on the system with MARCER TGs in the past few minutes. It has all been one sided so far. No response from any of the three hospitals that they attempted to raise on the radio. They tried several times calling; Menorah, Overland Park Regional and Olathe Medical Center.

Also heard KCK EMS attempt the same with Providence Medical Center. KCK was attempting to actually give a patient report, after four failed attempts on this system, they switched back to the 800MHz system and received a reply right away.

Add Sis1 and Sis2 to that list. The only thing that PD seemingly has so far that isn't encrypted is the Sanders TG. So much for public accountability and accessibility to government.
