Inside some, but mostly driving. Just seems that my reception has gotten somewhat worse lately.
Maybe my scanner is getting old? Needs tweaking?

For driving around what worked the best for me is getting the antenna outside of the car or truck, but I had to try several antennas on top of my truck. For some reason JoCo has never decoded to well for me.

Double check that you have all the Control Channel's in your scanner.

maybe read and try adjusting the p25 decode if you haven't

I just program all the frequencies. I assumed the CC can be any one of the 25 and it changes all the time? Is there a set freq for the CC.

just need the ones above, trying to make sure you don't have any of the KCMO freq's in there

If you look at FCC license WQKX487 and WQKX488 you can see exactly where the P25 sites are located. There are only 9 P25 Johnson County system sites. The map referenced above includes sites that are not P25.

BB

The towers that I referenced are P25 and specific to the OP that I replied too.

With the disaster of the RR database for JoCo being combined with MARCER it is impossible to find anything strictly Johnson County anymore.

As I have said before, I will not be renewing my premium subscription to this site if the database remains the way it is. It will only get worse when KCK/Wyandotte County get a P25 system going. Combining an entire Metro area as "one system" is a joke and a disaster for anyone who isn't familiar with the way these complex systems work.

Amen brother. That is why I went and found just the CC of Johnson county for him hopefully that was the problem, it was for another guy on here.

I have a hard time looking through it sometimes myself, I couldn't imagine being new and trying to sort it out

I am far from an expert on the way this system works but, it seems there were some problems with the radio system this morning.

Lots of broken transmissions, with numerous different agencies across the county. At first it seemed like it was just on my end, then I started hearing dispatchers asking units to repeat their traffic and the same coming from units in the field.

Came here and started up the online feed, which was having the same issue.

Nothing has changed with my programming of my multiple digital scanners and nothing has changed in the disaster area that is the RR database for this system, as far as I can tell.

I am thinking it was something weather related. It seems to have either been fixed or remedied itself now. At least a 30 minute span with intermittent radio issues. The rain seems to have let up a little bit here as I am posting this. I am sure there is, or at least will be, someone from the county troubleshooting what happened later this morning.

It is probably already a lost cause but, if there is any way that we the end users can get some say in the whole database thing, it sure would be nice if admin would separate the Johnson County P25 and MARCER P25. Regardless of whether or not everything is marked for which county it is, it is still obnoxiously twisted and tangled. I have been scanning for more than 15 years in this area, a repeat premium subscriber to this website since 2008, and I have always submitted found frequencies/information to the database and forums.

Regardless of if this changes or not, I will continue scanning. I will just be keeping any new information/frequencies to myself and will hang on to my hard earned money instead of bringing it here. /rant

I don't see this as off topic at all. It is the Johnson county system and this is the Johnson county thread.

Coming from somebody not in Johnson county and who rarely is in the metro but has programmed it into their scanner and has knowledge of the geography, the fact these storage systems have been merged is very confusing when programming. It seems from everything I have read this has only been for simplicity of the database admins and is in no way more simple for the users. If it is that difficult to admin 2 separate systems in separate states that they need to be merged then there is a training issue somebody needs to address. Last i checked the goal of any service or site like radioreference is for the the better of the public and that is not happening in this case.

Friday Morning I was searching KSICS Olathe tower and was hearing 33318 KCMO PW Solid Waste, 31806, 33007, and Metro 33052. I wonder if these were users in KCMO that radios became associated with that tower if there was a problem with local KCMO towers.. There was only a few transmissions and after about 2 hours I did not pick up any more KCMO units.

I guess my off topic mark was due to it being off the topic of my original statement I made in the post...

I agree with you there. If the issue is simplicity for site admins, why not add more database admins to keep up with the load? It is not like it is a paid position where someone else has to take a pay cut to pay for a new employee... If you have more work than you can handle, you employ help... Especially when that help is unpaid.

The worst part of this, in my humble opinion, is that this was a completely behind the scenes discussion. Zero input or feedback from the end users. I have said it time and time again, I PAY a yearly fee to be a premium subscriber here for ease use when it comes to programming. When I find a new talkgroup or frequency, right after I program it into my scanners, I submit it here and have done that for years. If I could get a refund for my premium subscription I would be asking for it, I am fully capable of programming by hand.

Almost every time I want to look at JoCo Kansas, I forget that I need to go to Jackson County Missouri first.

I don't go to Jackson County first to program JoCo Kansas. I'm now wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

Do you have a link for where you are getting your information? Everything I can find is Jackson County, Missouri and Johnson County, Kansas merged together in an barely organized heap.

With in the last few days or so they added the links to MARRS in Johnson County, either way it's still a mess

Well this is a first. This morning at 4:50, everyone systemwide was advised that "all P25 radios will be down for 2-3 minutes at 0500".

Everyone switched radio traffic to RAMBIS
Fire/Med-Act switched to RAM TAC 1
Law Enforcement to RAM TAC 2

Anyone know anything about this?

Edit: Now ECC Dispatchers are telling Fire/Med-Act to continue to monitor RAM TAC 1 "until further notice."

Interesting, only thing I can think of is some major software update or a controller fail test.

0545:
Edit: just heard somebody giving a test count but no further traffic yet.

0557:
Edit #2: I'm hearing more traffic on it now. Monitoring through the feed which doesn't seem to scan RAMBIS.

There are radio techs performing test counts across the system. ECC Dispatchers and Olathe EOC have been working back and forth. Shawnee and SO Southzone have switched back to P25 and said there will be another outage at 0600.

With Radio Techs being in and working at 0500, I would assume this is an update or test of some sort, like cinsu said.

Everyone is supposedly going to be instructed to return to their respective RAMBIS frequency at 0600...

Edit: 0604 and sounds like everyone is back with normal radio traffic. A few agencies conducted roll calls, a few others just did test counts.

Last Thursday morning I think I heard someone on one of the JOCO P25 city channels say digital was going to be down for 5 minutes at 0500hrs for a radio update. Perhaps that was an update for the update.
