Can I assume that the MARCER field to hospital radio system will remain unchanged?

For now it seems to be remaining the same. I am sure at some point MARCER will be transfered to this system.

Right now, the only TG's for MARCER in the RR Database are;

MARCER Ambulance Talkgroups

31800 MARCER Announce (All Call)
31801 MARCER Ambulance Dispatch
31802 Centerpoint Medical Center ER (Patient Reports)
31803 Childrens Mercy Hospital ER (Patient Reports)
31804 Childrens Mercy South Hospital ER (Patient Reports)
31805 Cushing Memorial Hospital ER (Patient Reports)

Sounds like Lenexa is now using encryption on their channel 2 (TG 31252). Did hear one officer on 1 came across and said "Lets go back to channel 2"... Not sure if this is just while they are working on something that they don't want to get out or if this is new for the new year. Hopefully just a temporary thing.

I'm going to see if I can get that answered through the pipeline.
Maybe someone else will chime in that has some "inside" knowledge".

I agree...hope its a temp situation.

31252 Lenexa channel 2 was not encrypted yesterday. Lately, most of the radio traffic is being done on channel 1.

Tonight Lenexa seems to be using channel 2 quite a bit, it is still encrypted. Have heard lots of encrypted traffic on TG 31255 (Lenexa PD Secure). Also heard a Sergeant ask an officer to switch to "channel 4" which seems to be Lenexa PD Tac 2 (TG 31254), encryption used there as well.

Something Different (?)

Tried something different (for me) with the JOCO P25 system. I use ARC XT PRO software and an 996XT scanner. I have been having trouble picking up the p25 system. I got to looking at the various sites for that system, and realized they all had the same system frequencies at each site. I used the following frequencies in my ARC software, 771.3062, 771.5812, 771,9812, 772.3312, 772.5812, 772.8312, 773.2062, 773.4562, 773.7312, 774.2312, 774.4812, and 774.7312. I got those frequencies from the FCC licenses from the FCC information taken from Radio Reference.com. I was having trouble receiving the Johnson County P25 system, as down-loaded. I removed the eight hundred-control freqencies from the scanner, just using the seven hundred frequencies. I now am now able to hear transmissions which I was unable to do previously. The transmissions are still somewhat distorted, I am starting to play with the audio adjustments in the software, to clear up the distorted speech, but I am at least able to receive the system much better with out the 800 "control" frequencies. This maybe a lack of knowledge on my part, but I thought I would share it with those of you in the Joco area in hopes it might help out. I was not able to receive very little traffice on the P25 system. Hopefully this will improve with the audio adjustments in the scanner. Hope this helps some of you, as it has given me some hope.

Well, without the control channels your radio can't operate in trunked mode or follow a talkgroup from frequency to frequency. Based on what you are describing you are simply listening to the raw audio now- the downside is you will hear everything... and won't be able to follow conversations very well. If you remove frequencies you are also likely missing radio traffic. The control channel shouldn't have anything to do with the quality of audio you are decoding in P-25.

I wonder if the he has simply deleted the 800 Mhz freqs? I wondered myself what they did, but I loaded them in anyway. I don't know if they are required, or if they can even be control channels?

Anybody hazard a guess what those 800s are doing in amongst the 700s?

Did some monitoring with the wildcards during all the snow earlier in the week.

TG 31490 is Shawnee Public Works

TG 31030 I think is Merriam Public Works. Seems to be based on the street names.

I have a couple other TGs written down that seem to be public works, did not hear any street names mentioned there so hard to narrow down who is using them. I did submit Shawnee Public Works to the database. Waiting on submitting what I think is Merriam until I can confirm that is who is using it.

Why am I not hearing anything?

A place to discuss the new Johnson County Kansas P25 radio system.

I have a Uniden BCD396T APCO 25 Scanner and I downloaded the frequencies for all of Johnson County from Radio Reference using ProScan software. I am not hearing anything when I am in Johnson County.

Are you sure the scanner is in trunking mode?

I was in Olathe yesterday and I heard some traffic on ECC and South Sheriff. Olathe seemed to be encrypted. I also heard a little of Lenexa and some of theirs was encrypted as well. I heard nothing from Overland Park.

I don't believe Overland Park has switched to the P25 system yet. As far as I know, they are still on their old trunked system.

OP is still on their old trunk system.
I have had pretty good luck with Lenexa so far. I don't have their encrypted ID programmed in, so its a moot point.
I have had mixed results with JOCO Sheriff. I have a feeling that they tend to use their encrypted channels a lot. When I had them programmed there was a LOT of traffic on them. Since then I hear relatively little traffic, but I only monitor them when I'm out in the boonies. Maybe somebody that regularly monitors them can chime in with their experiences?

Just a guess but they may somehow be tied into the KSICS and the whole interoperability concept. I know all the KHP freqs on their P25 system are 800 MHz.
