Hello does anyone know why johnston county police depts and sheriff dispatch are using Ops channels for dispatch instead or their regular channels?

Hello does anyone know why johnston county police depts and sheriff dispatch are using Ops channels for dispatch instead or their regular channels?

Communications International was performing both clear and encrypted testing the Sheriff dispatch channel this morning. It would not surprise me if those channels go dark in the near future.

SO Main is now encrypted. Atleast it is for now

The remaining programming will be completed next week at which time all law enforcement will be encrypted going forward.

that’s dissapointing but what about all the fire channels and EMS channels and even the hospital channels? Is everything else going to stay in the clear? You have the school buses channels and Animal Control also.

As of today all Johnston County Law Enforcement dispatch and Sheriffs Dept dispatch channels are now Encrypted. Fire and EMS remain unencrypted/in clear.
