I just looked at the Andrews AFB Joint Services House website to find out if scanners are allowed this year. Like the last few years scanners aren't listed on the permitted or banned list for this year's event. I took two radios with me last year with no problem. I hope to do the same this year.

If you check the wiki article, you will find a concise list of all freqs used at past shows; I'd start by making group(s) of these and putting them in a quick key. This should be a good test for the RS/GRE object oriented scanners, too.

By the way, we have the 380 mhz system at Andrews mapped out as well - and there evidently are some talkgroups reserved for JSOH activity...

I have one in making, I wasn't intended to share it with the forum (since no one asked until now) so I only had FD and federal stuff in it. I didn't include much airband frequencies because the PSR-500 sucks when it comes to AM reception.

Here it goes anyway.

Something else to keep in mind - it might also be useful to monitor the new PG county P25 system to see if anything shows up regarding traffic and logistics control inside and around the stadium where the buses are that picks you up to go to Andrews. 73 Mike

The MT guide has been out in hard copy since March - they have not yet pub their online version, AFAIK. However, if you look in Military monitoring forum, and read the 2010 Thunderbird thread, in message 7 someone posted these freqs (and that includes the Blue Angels ones) in a UASD format. This format is easy to use even if you aren't using the Uniden DMA scanners - it's readable with a little work in Excel, and natively in Notepad

If you are using a DMA scanner, FreeScan can import this file directly - and I'm pretty sure the other programs can, too

In addition the wiki lists the freqs for both the Blue Angels and TBirds that have been used at past shows. They could very well use the same ones at this weekend's show

As I posted earlier about taking a scanner into Andrews AFB. During the security check this morning at FEDEX Field they told me that wasn't able to enter with scanner, I tried another line and no problems entering. Currently at the open house.

Was told scanners weren't permitted at the security checkpoint by 3 soldiers including a Captain. One of the soldiers even said he was a ham and that I could listen in to what he was saying! Bizarre! I tried to reason with them but to no avail of course - "just following orders" kind of thing. He said the orders were from FORSCOM which I doubt. Disappointing security paranoia that makes coming to this airshow less enjoyable.

Heritage flight over Balt.Co.

Hey All, Just had the heritage flight over my house up here north of Towson.
They were using 279.975 talking to a controller on the ground (Drago). Also using VHF 125.525 talking to BWI.
P-51 Mustang, F-22 Raptor and F-16 standard formation F-22 had the lead. Also just heard parachute drop cancelled over preakness.

Interesting. I went thru a checkpoint around 9:45 AM Saturday with my Pro 96 and my camera bag (with my scanner in it) was checked very thoroughly. No issues, just like previous years.

Here I am at a previous JSOH with the same setup. Note the antenna protruding from the camera bag. Second row, next to last photo.
