Heard something new today while listening to JPFD: Engine 208. Anyone have info on why the number 208 is being used by what is normally and 100 series numbered engine? This engine company sounds like it is the old numbered engine 178. Have the tone-outs changed also?
Thanks, tippeyb

The new station is located between Station 17 (ladder 177 and engine 178) and Station 18 (ladder 187 and engine 188). They will be the first due company for East Jefferson Hospital, and other some other areas that were handled by 17, 18, and 16. Station numbers 11-19 are already in use, and Harahan stations start at 25, so this would be the natural progression.

Numbering this as station 10 (engine 108) would have probably overstressed many of the experienced local public safety professionals. A signal 108 was the radio code for "officer need help - life in danger".
