I heard on the radio (AM, not scanner) yesterday that the chief personally pulled over a 'high mile-er' yesterday.
I was wondering, since there are either OPP officers hanging out here or those in the know if:

does the chief use a radio that we can hear on fleetnet?
Which talkgroup would da chief use, I think he lives north of the city and I guess would commute to Orillia or Toronto?
I am surwe I'd could recognize his voice if I heard him on fleetnet, he seems to love the media attention (in that I dont even know who was the old chief)
Thanks in advance,

E

He would be in the talkgroup appropriate for the area that he is in at the time (he's the boss and can roam where ever he wants lol)
and his "call sign" might be CAR1 (I think, others please confirm)

Yes, his call sign is indeed Car1. I heard a call about 3 weeks ago and he was pulling over a high miler. It was the chief myself (Car1) and called another car to assist him. Like EJB said, you will recognize his voice right away.
Take care

Fantino is a very "hands on" Chief. While many on the job don't really appreciate his way of doing things, at the end of the day he gets the job done, and in the most efficient way possible.

He's the kind of boss who won't have someone under his power do something unless he is personally willing to do it as well. This shows greatly with his hands-on style of policing.

So yes, it is actually him - unescorted.

others can confirm but I think he drives a dark navy blue crown vic.
nice to see the top guy driving a car that the force uses and not afriad to pull people over or think its below him

I use to know his address but didn't care enough to remember. Its near all the mafia houses jk
A friend took me by it one time it had undercover but easily noticeable cops parked outside (think he was in hot water then though).

he sure don't seem like the kinda guy who would want an escort or someone watching him all the time. i know alot of people dislike him, but i kinda appriciate his no b.s. attitude.

With speeders, criminals, yes. I wouldn't go as far as calling him a straight shooter, as his dealings with the Haldimand council over Caledonia shows. Hands-on OPP commissioner, yes. More visible and accessible than his predecessor, yes. Savvy political operator, also yes.

The man obviously knows where his bread is buttered.
