just cant get a clear comms

Just can not get the forest service with a nice clear sound. I know their radio system is poor . Just comes in fuzzy at times. I have a pro-197 I have the system running on NFM not fm because they use narrow band. I have the attn on. I have the sound boost on. any other ideals? When tonto goes to National flight theyare nice and clear, but when they run off of Ord or Humboldt very fuzzy comms.

attenuation means to cut down, you would use it in a high rf arealike a city.

You're either in a bad spot for receiving the towers, or you're picking up two or more towers at the same time, and they're interferring with each other. (Multi-path interference.)

Try the FM setting. I have read where it may improve reception.

You may also be experiencing interference from a cell tower or other RF.
