The system should BE IN the landfill... P25 is the bomb but it has a heftier price tag than DMR?? Just not digging mototrubo and DMR well right now... :( But thanks for posting anyhoo Mr. MILF.

DMR is a better protocol. Two slot simplex, control on a single time slot vs a 12.5KHz FDMA channel for P25, AES256 encryption(as long as you stay away from Motorola), and 1/4 the price are just some of the advantages to DMR.

Only ONE fact you mentioned actually matters on a conventional system like this.... TDMA ... There is NO TDMA for P25 conventional. And the one company that owns DMR lock stock and barrel that could do an Phase II for P25 conventional and push for that standard to happen.. Is not going too since they have a lockdown on DMR anyway. Motorola. And Enhanced Security (AES256 ) still coasts extra no matter who the vendor is on DMR, Basic is still included (or cheaper) no matter the Vendor. Motorola makes money off ANY DMR sold by ANY Vendor so that old argument that anyone is better is pretty much crap now.

Actually there is 2 additional DMR features are control on a single time slot, and TDMA conventional and simplex.

You clearly have zero understanding of these standards.

You want TDMA on P25? You MUST buy more equipment and make it a trunk system. Something you do not need to do with DMR.

And Enhanced Security (AES256 ) still coasts extra no matter who the vendor is on DMR, Basic is still included (or cheaper) no matter the Vendor.

MotoTRBO Enhanced Security is NOT AES256 in North America. It’s welfare 40bit. Motorola refuses to sell AES256 on their DMR platform in North America. 40bit ARC4 is a joke. A broke joke. All it does it keep idiots from streaming, nothing more.

Further to that, while AES256is starting to be offered as an included feature with P25, you still pay through the nose for hardware multikey support.

Motorola makes money off ANY DMR sold by ANY Vendor so that old argument that anyone is better is pretty much crap now.

AMBE2 is also a superior codec over IMBE. As well, so unless you use P25 phase 2 you are stuck with IMBE.

There is also networking. Far easier with DMR than V.24.

LOTS of reasons to avoid P25. The biggest one is cost. Especially cost.

While that is a consideration, federal money (which is still plentiful for subscriber units) is limited to P25 now. So while it is more expensive, to the end user, it is sometimes the cheapest way to go when using grant money.
