Just launch a new Scanner System for Sacramento County

I've launched a new Police / Fire / Public Safety Scanner "DVR" for Sacramento County.
It allows you to pause live, rewind, replay, and even download audio of a transmission with a simple few clicks.

You can add filters so you only hear certain areas or only police & sheriff. Or only hear Fire, etc....
Each time a radio "keys" up it creates an entry in the system and a new line item.
New audio calls drop in from the top of the list and you can "rewind" by scrolling down.

If you turn on "Continuous Play" and click down on the list it will play every audio call going up the list.

We hope to add CHP Gold and Black to the system soon.

Currently just Placer-Radio and Sac-Radio
I'm open to more counties but I don't have any sites to install equipment for other counties so...
Unless we get people in these areas to donate a place for antennas, power and internet it likely won't happen
We have thousands sunk into these two sites and honestly I'm surprised we have gotten so little donations, with as much traffic and users as we have on the sites.. But if you know any good sites we could install equipment we'd be glad to setup more counties.
Or even expand on Placers system. As we need more coverage in the Truckee / Tahoe area.

It's pretty cool but mine won't play live and have to keep closing and restarting it to get new calls, won't auto play. Also if you go to "all police/sheriff" I can't choose a talk group without closing and restarting once I've chosen that

Few things.
What device are you attempting to listen with?
If phone or tablet then you MUST make sure the browser stays open and the device does not turn off the screen. The OS will put the app to sleep and thus end getting new calls after the OS sleeps the app.
And you must ensure this box is turned on or it will catch up to current and then stop, until manually restarted
Also, Did you watch the video on how to use the system?



As for your issue when you can't choose a talkgroup after you have selected ALL/Police and fire..... That is by design you can't use both at the same time. You either use the Group OR Talkgroup. You can not use both at the same time. You must click the "x" in the Group to turn off Groups before you can begin to use the Talkgroup.. It's all explained in the video

I'm on a MacBook Pro. Okay on the user group and I have continuous and autoplay on but for some reason it's not playing automatically, I have my Unication G5 sitting here too but for some reason I'm not getting the calls, it just went a half hour with no calls until I restarted it. Very odd there was nothing on the list until I restarted it.
edit: now it's working. Also I noticed you said you're working on CHP Gold and Black, has Black gone to P25 simulcast yet? I can't seem to find it except low band

I dunno, it's still missing some replies that my G5 picks up, just missed three replies by the officer to dispatch for some reason. Is there a buffering setting? edit: okay now I go back and the recordings are there but they didn't play live, only the longer ones come through

I can't seem to find it except low band

I connected to their P25 system several months ago and it was a complete mess. So yes, the only way to hear it is with an Antenna tuned for 45ish mhz. Which we have not found a good base antenna tuned to that freq. thus we don;t offer it yet We have found several base ones but they cost between $3000 and $5000 bucks. So that's not an option.
We are working on trying different mobile antennas, to see if that will get descent results and make it work that way.
We have partial CHP Green on Placers System.

As for your issues, we have 1,000's of listeners and never had the issues you describe.
Are you sure your devices are not sleeping or turning off the monitor/screen?
Also are you using the recommended browser Firefox like we state in the FAQ?

Okay, thanks. I have no idea why it's doing what it's doing. I use a Diamond discone with a 63" whip on top, chimney mounted on a pole about 10' higher than the roof in the Carmichael area. I can receive a good radius, San Jose, SF, Auburn, Placerville, Stockton, Modesto, Amador....and everything in between for CHP

Yes, placer county police, Nevada city, grass valley, El Dorado county Green very well, I was getting Gray a lot during the big snow storms not too much recently. Kinda weird, was listening to the Tahoe Donner ski resort coming in very well.

And do you get both sides of the Green (Officer and Dispatch?)

That sounds fun but remodeling after our son moves out in June and everything is being moved room to room getting ready to retire and have too much going on and trying find room for all my stuff and already have three scanners running off my antenna. Thanks though. An antenna for CHP or any agency does not have to be expensive.

Little secret; we have now connected a proper app to the system. RDIO Scanner App.
you can enter this link into the app below, or just click the link to use on a PC as well.
It's more of a traditional scanner, very easy to tune in and select what agencies you want to hear or (not hear).
But, it does not rewind well like the current system.
BUT the app for phones/tablets does AMAZING and allows the screen to be turned off and still listen.

Check it out and let me know what you think. We have not announced it publicly yet.

Currently only the Sac has this new feature, it has not been added to Placers system yet.

The rdio version looks super slick. I'll be trying it out tonight! I too use the Sac site daily. It's amazing... and this is coming from somebody who owns A LOT of scanners and SDR sticks...
