to see if it offers better performance than the stock antenna on my SDS200, but I also plan on trying it on my BC125AT.

Are there any other indoor antennas that might offer high performance that I should be thinking about? I mainly listen to civil aviation, maritime, railroad and 2 meters ham, but I am also curious about military aviation. I have a Diamond 77 that I like pretty well.

Any suggestions?

A favorite for handheld antenna is the Diamond SRH320A which has an SMA connector. My second favorite is the Diamond RH951S which has a BNC connector. I don't use the RH951S for 23cm, but it sweeps and works better for VHF and military air than the 77CA. Still, even indoors if your SDS200 will sit in once place, a discone indoors using some coax is an option...if you don't mind the size of it.

I have never tested the Comet W100RX, so I...oh wow it is telescopic. Well, that can be good and or bad. Easier to bend/break and adjusting the length to the desired frequency coverage each time would provide improved results. I use telescoping antennas for a single band and leave it alone.

You noted you want to receive 118 to around 162 MHz and are curious about upper mil air from 225 - 400 MHz as well. A discone antenna should be considered for the coverage range you want to scan.
