Hey y'all

Today, I got my BCD436HP, and I am having some issues.

1. Paducah PD, McCracken SO, use motorola type ii smartnet system. My scanner doesn't scan any of

their transmissions. I used senitel BCD X36 program to design my favorite list, and deleted all the EMS/Fire

just to listen to Paducah PD and MCSO, and I still don't hear nothing. For the audio options, it was set as

"CTCSS/DCS anaglos", and I changed it to NAC/Color code digital to see maybe that fixes the problem,

but It didn't.

What am i doing wrong, and can anyone help me to fix it?

2. It seems like I only hear bits and pieces of transmission from KSP post 1 or agencies that are on

conventional. I hear KSP post 1 transmission every now and then, and I don't think that I am scanning the

whole transmssion. as I mentioned above, for the audio options, it was set as"CTCSS/DCS anaglos", and I

changed it to NAC/Color code digital to see if that fixes it.

Who knows a lot about BCD436HP, and fixes this problem for me?

or BCD436HP even capable of scanning the whole transmission for surrounding agencies?

Thanks

Delete your favorite list and turn on the main database. You have completely screwed up your channel settings. Setting a digital audio type on an analog channel will disable it. Most of the stuff in the database is correct, if you think you need to change the audio type on all your channels, you've done something wrong. And deleting stuff from a trunked system without knowing exactly what you are doing can cause you to hear nothing from that system.

Also check what service types you have enabled. Its a safer way to turn off fire and EMS vs deleting stuff.

Thanks for the reply.

The city is 800 analog trunking and the county is analog LTR

What do you think that I need to for the next step?

I tried the full-data base when I first got the scanner and It will won't scan anything from the PD or SO.

I tried the zip-code programming, but still nothing.

It is quite frustrating.

CTCSS/DCS is not compatible with a Motorola Type II trunked system.

Do as was suggested and use the main database while you figure out how to manage FLs.

Funny things is I already tried that before. I just used the main database, and didn't change anything, but

it still didn't scan anything. So I don't know what is wrong.

It's possible the system has been replaced, so make sure your database is up to date (in Sentinel, click UPDATE then UPDATE MASTER HPDB database, then write to the scanner)

When that is done...

Make sure the Radius is set to encompass the area you want to hear.

Enter your zip code and let the scanner find the systems in that range.

After that, Make sure the Service Types are enabled you want to hear.

Voyager I live 60 miles from Paducah, McCracken County I hear them when I go up there but not from home I think catbird lives there he may can help. But you are not going to hear that system 30 miles away on the stock rubber duck antenna.

I sent a PM with step-by-step instructions on how to do a full DB update, and set up a single favorite list for Paducah Police to make sure you have things working.

I suggested programming a single trunk system at first, instead of trying to set up everything you want to monitor in 1 go. It makes troubleshooting much, MUCH easier!

Buddrousa makes a good point - are you trying to monitor using the stock rubber duck antenna? If so, I would say your only hope of picking up Paducah from Benton would be if you were standing outside, on top of a hill. If you're using the rubber duck antenna inside your house, I don't think you're going to get anything.

In case you are still struggling, I concur will the above advice - use the full database and zipcode until you are comfortable that the scanner is receiving as desired.

Since you've created a Favorites List, you may have turned off the full database along the way. Press Menu>Set Scan Selection>Select Lists to Monitor>Full Database (On).

May wish to start with a large Range 50 miles and lower that by 10 mile increments until you get the sweet spot of coverage (not too much, not too little).

The database shows 16 mile range for Paducah's system, so if your Range had been set to 0, it would have been turned off because of distance.

An outside antenna should be helpful. There are many variables and this isn't an apples to apples comparison, I hear E-town fairly well here in Louisville with my outside antenna.
