I am trying to figure out how to listen to the Pueblo Sheriff, Pueblo West Fire Dept, AMR Ambulance, and Pueblo City Police Dept. I think most of these departments have gone to the DTRS. I have been playing with the Adams County 3-022 system while I am in Westminster trying to learn the radio and how to program it. I think I have accomplished this group and am listening to it. I can not figure out what frequencies to put in for the Pueblo agencies. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I think you are suggesting that you've got Adams county working which would mean you have an understanding of trunking and talkgroups. If not then you'll want to do some reading about trunking, motorola systems and APCO P25 settings. (You're not trying to listen to Pueblo while sitting in Westminster are you? That mostly won't work.)

For Pueblo you would put in the control channels and talkgroups for towers and agencies near Pueblo.
The map that shows you what towers are in what location is at the top of this page:

Scanner Frequencies: State of Colorado DTRS Trunking System, Statewide, Multi-State

Further down are the frequencies to match the tower numbers you want. (though the map's numbering scheme and the tabular listing number scheme don't yet match with recent re-numbering schemes)

I'd pick Walking Stick, Jackson Hill, and Goat Hill sites to start with. Control channels only.

And under Pueblo on that same page would be the talkgroups for the agencies that are on DTRS.

If an agency you want to listen to isn't on DTRS then look for it under the County listing here: Pueblo County, Colorado (CO) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

If you aren't programming your radio using computer and software most folks would strongly recommend you gain that capability. Doing these radios manually can be done but manual is a lot easier after you've used software and the concepts have been absorbed. Doing it manually is like trying to drive while looking thru the wrong end of a telescope.

Thank you for the reply. I do have the Adams County working so I did do some more reading and learned how to apply the map to the lists. It just took a little time understanding how it all fits together. I am in Westminster learning the radio and intend to take it to Pueblo for my mom to monitor down there. I am headed down there this weekend and will try the Control channels only and see what happens. I have downloaded Win500 and have the RadioShack USB cable for the PRO-106 and have it talking and computering. Thanks again.

Complicated radios, aren't they?

Sounds like you're well on your way.

If your Mom is like mine, you'll want to lock the keypad for her :)

When we got this last weekend RS programmed it and while we were driving home just like if her finger had a magnet in it she learned how to use the LOCKOUT button. Then I had to figure out what she no longer was listening to. I figured if she kept pressing it she would not have much left. It is a challange

Spent the last 2 days in Pueblo working on this. Found Sheriff, Police, Pueblo Reservoir Rangers, Pueblo West Fire Department AND a lot more we did not expect. I ended up using Jackson Hill, Walking Stick, and 12 Mile Towers. Goat Hill and Pueblo Chemical Depot did not produce any traffic. The only thing I do not know how to get is the Pueblo AMR traffic. Even without AMR my mom was pleased and is happily listening again.

I liked my Mom's Pro-106 so well I went out and bought one for myself before the price went up. Now I have a question and can not seem to search for it quite right on here to find the answer. I know it probably has been asked. I am using 3 towers here in Westminster. 3-022, 1-005, 1-008. These three towers seem to have a lot of the same TGRP numbers in them. Finally the question. Is there a way to program the 3 towers into the scanner and share one TGRP list for them? I would also like to be able to turn monitoring the towers on and off. Sorry for the lack of the correct terminology here, still a newbie.

I believe you can still pick up PW fire and public safety with an analog radio as well as Pueblo PD. I have a Pro 97 that I listen to and I pick them up very easily. However, I have noticed that the Sheriff's Dept has dissapeared off my channels so I think they did go to a different system. I have a Pro 96 that I was able to program a few local AMR channels in a I am able to pick up the ambulances when they call into the hospitals. The info on those I got from here at RR in the database. But mind you it's all mostly analog stuff as my scanners won't pick up the DTRS around here. Am saving up for a Pro 106, but haven't made the committment yet, Kind of got burned when I bought the Pro 96 thinking it would pick up more channels than my 97. Guess what, put them side by side(which I have) and the 97 is STILL the better radio for Pueblo. So the 96 usually sits on the shelf most of the time and I use the 97. I am more apt to invest in a decent ham rig(just got my license) than spend all that cash on a scanner that MAY or MAY NOT perform the way I want it to. I may possibly switch to a PSR 500 or the Uniden BC as I have been told they WILL pick up those channels here in Pueblo. Can anyone who is familiar with the Pueblo area tell me if the Pro 106 will pick up the DTRS channels or not? I REALLY don't have the extra cash to be throwing away on a radio that doesn't perform like I want and ends up sitting around collecting dust. I could use that $500 for other things. Am seriously considering selling the 96 second hand since I hardly ever use it....

I have been able to get the DTRS to work very well in the Pueblo area. The Sheriff, City Police and Fire, Pueblo West Fire, some AMR but I do not think all. Set up on some good towers and am doing quite well in the Pueblo West area with DTRS.

Yes the Pro-106 will pick up Pueblo City and County DTRS just fine.
