or what ever the time happens to be

Two things

1. I am getting that right???

2. Why do they do that???

I miss the old days of Phoenix PD VHF. After each hot call was cleared back to the frequency the dispatcher would say "chase clear at 12:23 hours, KOA789". One particularly slow night, a hot call was cleared with just the time and no callsign. So, one of the officers hopped on and said "KOA789" after which the dispatcher giggled and said "Very good!"

Sadly, the PRWN does it's own FCC id via morse and you never hear it while monitoring.
