I just dump the few aircraft frequencies around here into my VX6 ht.

May be ok at an airshow or carried with ya while hangin' around an airfield..but with no ability to scan, search, and more importantly I saw no mention of a squelch control, so would make for a long day of listening to "hiss".
An older, cheap vhf handheld scanner would make much more sense. I have several old uniden SC150's and Pro 94's etc that work very well aircraft band-wise. Add a decent antenna, (rather than the "rubber duck") and you've got a pretty good setup at usually less than the Kaito price. 'Nuther good reason.

I looked at them too and decided against it. Would be nice if it scanned and had squelch control.
