Just saw this post on Facebook shows Kane County sheriff's office getting ready to switch over to starcom. Would anyone happen to know if they would be encrypting or not it's kind of our only way into Aurora at this point another post shows them switching by the end of the year and trying to get KaneComm dispatch to switch as well thanks.

I talked to a FF for a FD in Kane County who is dispatched by KaneCom. FDs would reportedly stay on VHF and possibly simulcast to Starcom21. Even though this was a few months back this is still the case.

Here in Joliet I monitor T126 but, I used to hearElgin PD "ENC" but they don't show up at all now...I only copy the Tricom Fd's on P2 , could it be that Elgin is also ENC-P2.,,..

Is there any talk of any other nothern IL counties going to StarCom?
As I said, don't hold your breath for clear comms once they're on Starcom21.
They're using privacy concerns due to COVID as an excuse to turn it on. You can read the whole resolution here, starting on page 4. https://www.countyofkane.org/Lists/Events/Attachments/5640/AG - 20-07-07 CAAC REVISED.pdf

Don't be surprised if DuPage County is very far behind them, next year or the year after. The police chiefs want it, they'll probably get it.
