Can confirm the following:
Site 248 on air and being received in Dwight with 853.4375 as control
CC reception is very good, audio is not as good as the site is LSM and I have a 996P2 and most likely receiving multiple locations.
In past was able to receive Bonfield 129 and Bradley 116 at my QTH.
I am using an outside 3db gain 800 MHz antenna.
Can also confirm that site 116 and 129 are off the air.
Kankakee County TRS is still on the air with a control of 856.7625, audio is scratchy but audible, at times only trunking 2 frequencies, not including cc.

I am not upset or concerned with the rx as I have another 996 and a smaller, back of set antenna, that may do fine, that is what I use to receive 113.
Just passing along info to the community as to what I am hearing.
If it becomes a big concern or problem I will try a SDS 200 or Unication.
Thanks for you idea, I will keep it in mind. :)

I travel through that area from time to time across Rte. 17 to a campground in Indiana. Do you know if the Bradley and Bonfield towers are active on the same frequencies? I have several antennas that I can use to see which one works better. I pick up 113 reasonably well on my 996P2 using this one.

I should say, as far as I know, I pick it up reasonably well. It seems to do better than a quarter wave.

I also monitor the 800 analog system on my 15X when going through that way.

I've been wondering when that simulcast system was going to go live.

I work near Joliet quite a bit so I monitor 113 quite frequently, along with the Will County system. I know Dwight is in Livingston County, not Kankakee. I think this simulcast thing is getting a little out of hand with 113 and 248. Forcing my hand on a new scanner. Maybe an SDS200 is not as far off as I thought!

I can also receive 248 cc on my 996p2 with the back of set antenna collapsed, I also read that the simulcast of 248 would include the locations of Bonfield(129), Bradley(116), GrantPark(130), City of Kankakee (Present analog TRS location), and St Anne(Present analog TRS location). Not sure whick locations have been upgraded to StarCom site 248, but I know Bonfield and Bradley most likely are due to signal strength at my QTH.

My guess is that the current users of the analog KanCom system might eventually migrate to Site 248, and the remaining KanCom freqs (and at least some of that system's sites) could become part of SC21 Site 248. Thanks to tommypickles for posting his observations on Sites 116, 129 and 248. I have changed the name of Site 248 (formerly Site 130) in the Radio Reference SC21 database page from "Grant Park" to "Kankakee County - Simulcast". Any future updated information (frequencies, towers) for Site 248 would be much appreciated!

Heard testing this afternoon on this site with TG 34905
"Radio 1 to Radio 2"
Did not catch an UID
Also getting TG 2914, 2925, and 2926 listed as K3 Prison Ops ENC. Have not received them in the past.
Is K3 a reference to Kankakee on the radioreference site? K3 is commonly used to abbreviate KanKaKee in this area.
Heard about 1430

"K3" is the IDOC radio number for Stateville Prison. I can see where that might be confusing.....
