Huh?????

>The college would get $500,000 for its forensics academy to develop a law enforcement curriculum for investigating perpetrators who use hand-held and mobile devices to commit crimes. It also would get $95,000 to train emergency responders from multiple professions to work together at scenes, he said.<

ONLY 300k? They must not be getting them from Motorola!

>and $300,000 for upgrades to digital radios for police officers in his city and in Concord. <

I think is great that cities are getting stimulus money.

What really ticks me off is the fact the the money is going to the police, for radios and computers. Well fire/rescue needs radios and computers as well, so they can communicate with the police as well.

What about Fire/EMS/Rescue?

Everybody is worried about law enforcement getting money. Our jobs as other public safety is just as dangerous.

Come on with the stimulus money it should be distributed equally with more going toward Fire/Rescue.

The reason I say this is, because law enforcement gets funding through drug seizures and drug money.

Fire/Rescue is not entitled to any of this money.

Everybody is worried about the police having to deal with drugs and drug dealers, what about fire/rescue having to go in and clean up the aftermath of a drug house.

Sure police have to worry about being shot at, but fire/rescue has to woory about the after effects of cleaning up a meth lab.

Fire/Rescue is getting the raw deal of this stimulus money. It is time to stand up and be heard

Just my thoughts

Well I mean.

Hey police get drug money from seizures and fire/rescue get nothing.

Look at each department to see how much they got from drug seizure money and them decide from there how much they should be awarded, and then the rest be awarded to othe public safety agencies. Base it on a percentage.

I am not knocking or downing police, they do a super job at protecting the people. Fire/Rescue do a super job as well, but they seem to get left out or fall through the cracks when money is given out.

I know fire/rescue gets FEMA grants, but they are specific as to how the money will be spent. To my knowledge that money is about gone.

Just like here in my state, the fire department grants are gone, now fire departments are starting to label themselves as fire/rescue so they can start getting the money that is alotted to rescue squads.

Also most fire departments think vehicle extrication is the only type rescue. They forget about all the other specialty rescue as well.
