OK, I have been reading about all the changes going on for the Weather Frequency's. Would some one KINDLY tell me what frequency to use for the LV CO KS to get the NOAA Weather updates & Bad Weather updates. Every thing I have used so far does NOT work for the LV CO. Is there a good frequency ?

The closest NOAA weather transmitter for Leavenworth County would be KID77 on 162.55 MHz.

I am looking for something like the 154.1300 that broadcast up dates for potential severe weather & ect, ect.
But I don't get the 154.1300 hardly at all, & the MARRS out of KCMO , well I can for get that also. It's just hard to be leave that LV CO cant get a good frequency from NOAA out of KCMO, I only live 30-35
miles from KCMO. Or is there a frequency that I can get ? I'm not looking for Spotters or SkyWarn.Thanks for the time.

First of all the best frequency to monitor weather is the 162.55. They provide weather updates continually.

Secondly different frequencies travel different distances. 800 will not travel very far, plus it's simulcast so you're out of luck unless you have an external antenna or travel to KC. The 154.130 will travel farther but it can be blocked due to interference or terrain. There are a number of factors that come into play. Keep in mind your scanner is not as good as a professional radio, so it won't work as well. I live 60 miles from KC and on a good night with my 17" antenna on the hood I can barely hear the 154.130.

If you are interested in listening for weather updates I would monitor Skywarn and/or public safety frequencies in your area.If you can't get the information you are looking for always listen to the 162.55 for the most up to date forecasts, watches and warnings. You can always check the SPC's website for severe forecasts and the NWS website for the local forecast and current hazardous weather outlook.

A birdie told me it was for the courthouse and the corrections folks.
To be used as a donaor site for the "In Building DAS" system - ie:BDAs.
To allow for better in building comms.

For anyone close enough to monitor the Cass Co. agencies: are the law dispatch talkgroups (Sheriff, Belton, Raymore, etc) indeed open and in the clear? I was under the impression from the last ESB update that everyone would be full-time encrypted. If they are in fact clear, I would like to confirm this before I waste my time reprogramming my equipment.

Can someone confirm AMR is using different talkgroups for the different areas they cover? I heard a dispatcher calling a 300 unit on 31845 vs 31843. The unit said they were on Independence and didn't know how to change the channel.

Also in the background of AMR Independence on the analog VHF I hear the triple chirp of a Motorola trunked radio. Can someone confirm AMR Independence is simulcasting on P25?

Sorry I may of miss spoke a little, All the Pd Channels are 100% ENC but you can still receive fire.

Yes, that was my understanding. Only fire that may use some encryption is South Metro. That would be used on fireground channels only for some ops. All primary dispatch will be in the clear.

Yes it has been noted. They were in the clear when I logged them. Hence the "D" designation.
