Hello,

I know I've done this before years ago but I can't remember how I did it.

I'm setting up a NON APRS regular packet digipeter using a KPC-3+.

Setting up for APRS is easy on this one but I need non-aprs.

Does anyone have the needed information to get it up and working. It's on right now, receives some packets, but doesn't relay anything.

Thanks

Id start with the manual. Been a long time since I just did packet stuff but I dont remember having a digi for packet. It was just a node I'd connect then bounce to next node. Its been a couple decades since I've run straight packet though.

I’ve got the manual setting in front of me for a kpc-3 and a kam. Both plus. It’s looking a little like they need to be in ka-node but i’m really not sure. I used to be a guru at the packet stuff but then came aprs and it all went away. neither manuals really touch on regular packet digi. Just aprs. And I don’t remember if we used the UI stuff in regular packet.

I used to run a KPC3 as a standalone digipeater. Looked in my digital repository (suppository?) and couldn't find a file with the settings I used.

KA-Node would only be useful if you have a network of Kantronics TNCs that you want to connect together for the purpose of passing messages.

Did you find this: https://www.vccomm.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/BASIC-SETTING-FOR-KANTRONICS-KPC-3.pdf ? Their setting might give you some insight. DIGIPEAT has to be On in order for the KPC3 to act as a digipeater using the callsign set in MYCALL. In other words, let's say MYCALL is set to N0CALL and DIGIPEAT is On. If a packet comes in with N0CALL in it's path, then the KPC3 should digipeat it. More specifically, some other user would have to send "CONNECT KJ7AZ VIA N0CALL" to use N0CALL as a digipeater.
