Testing a idea, monitoring the kcmo fd, I have seen a pattern of a 3 and a 4:
A3 is used north of the i-70 freeway
And a4 is south of 70,
I would like a little help to see if this correct, or just more random.ch assignment by call.

Your assumption is mostly correct.

The breakover point appears to be 31st.
Maybe one of our KCMO FD fellows will chime in and verify.

Disclaimer: I'm not employed by KCFD, yet I was able to confirm what @hkrharry said through one of their former dispatchers. 31st St is the dividing line. Everything north of that will be on A3, everything south will be on A4 (including Raytown and Grandview FD). A2 is mostly used by units returning to service after calls and some of the non-emergency ambulance runs are on it. A5-A10 are strictly tac channels. Hope that answers your question.
