All PD activity is still on EDACS as of 3AM. For some reason, I'm unable to pick up a control channel on the new digital system. Decode rate is bouncing between 76-99%, but all I'm getting is a hissing noise.

Sounds like they just started the up load to the North and ShoalCreek. All the traffic there was switched over to North P25. 07:30hrs

Metro, East, and Traffic Unit Dispatch are still EDACS, but I'm sure it won't be long before they swap out.

EDIT: 848AM-Metro Zone has gone digital.

Seems like dispatch will be in the clear like we want it to be... I'm listening to the online feed to see what they are saying... Just heard a Metro dispatcher say they have switched over, she had a bad echo, and the officer said he'll switch over now... Thought I heard Center Zone briefly on P25.

Yep, so far the only encryption I've heard is on 33101, which is supposedly a narcotics related talkgroup. All dispatch zones have been in the clear. South and traffic enforcement are now digital.

GREAT!!! You would figure that narcotics would be encrypted, don't want those guys listening in!! I bet they'll encrypt when necessary though, keeping the same standards I guess. Do they have P25 radios already installed or what, how are they switching over so quickly??

I think the Narcotics and Tac guys had P25 radios before the patrol zones did. Lots of traffic has popped up on 33101 within the last week. Also, it sounds like the Special Ops talkgroups will be encrypted as well. Just got a hit on 33072 (SpOps 6) and everything was garble.

Those all make sense, even though fun to listen to, should be encrypted. I thought, I just heard one person encrypted on Metro Zone's TG, but most everything I'm hearing is in the clear. I would've thought if they were going to encrypt everything then they would have by now...

Some KC-MO Police zones- Metro/South and North/Shoal Creek- are now on the new radio system. Center Zone is doing a "roll call-" and is about to switch over.

So far- all comms are non-encrypted.

Because from what I have heard- police comms WILL be encrypted- but I don't understand how that can make KC-MO's sytem "inter-operable" unless the other listening/participating agencies also can de-encrypt.

It's all for "national security" understand- but to my knowledge no 'terrorists' that have committed acts against us even HAD police scanners.

so far on east and north there is a lot of officers running encrypted, dispatch has been clear.

I heard only one officer, surely it's just for the officers' safety?! Unless they turned encryption on accidently...
