I believe they're creating their own systems and even I've heard Blue Springs, Jackson and Cass Counties will too eventually...

also what about CLAY COUNTY ....PLATTE COUNTY?....I can't believe they would stay out in the cold...everyone else has joined in..

For now at least, it looks like they're going to just narrow band their existing equipment and slowly work the 800 MHz equipment into their operation.

I'm sure that these decisions are made more difficult because these agencies provide dispatch services for smaller agencies....In Clay county for example, dispatching for Smithville, Kearney, and Mosby and the Clay county parks department are all done by the Clay county sheriff department.

I posted this link in another thread not too long ago.

I'm seeing on Mokanscan that Riverside PD and FD have two separate IDs, 35855 and 35850, respectively. Can anyone confirm this?! What's the latest with NKC PD??

Too bad Riverside is using ENC on their dispatch, oh well... atleast it's not full. Maybe they don't know they are encrypting...

Seems NKC uses more encryption on their dispatch TG than Riverside does. Most of Riverside's dispatch traffic has been in the clear the past few days. I think it's possible they forget to turn it off after "sensitive" broadcasts are sent.

What the deal with this system? Is it cell towers or just the power of the signal? The only way I can get clear traffic on the 996xt with out the R2D2 voice corruption is placing the antenna on the floor between a bookcase and an exterior wall. I've tried ALL the settings (e.g. gain, attenuation..) with full signal only to get the R2D2 voice. Now with the signal indicator fluctuating between 2 and 4 bars I get clear traffic. I've noticed driving around town near cell towers the PRS800 gets overloaded and has trouble decoding, while the 996T has good decoding. Attenuation helps around the cell towers, but then a few blocks away the att mode doesn't pick up the cc. I've tried various antennas (RS800, Maldol AH-W100RX and stock stubby duck) and found not much difference.

Well I for one on the northside of the river 106th & North Oak....my 106 will only work in one location in my house....voice corruption was unbelievable bad!!!! I did everything I could think of to make it better....so I took it for a ride and it worked great!!! back in the house horrible.....found a place on the corner of the desk and pow it's working...Im not a fan of this digital system...analog was so much better.....it is so touchy...they say on here because it's simulcast is the problem...I really don't know...Im a ham radio operator and Im totally lost with digital .....good luck..

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the simulcast signals overpowering the scanner. I guess I should of re-read this thread. The JOCO P25 is nowhere close to how bad this one is. Oh well.

Well folks.....my situation seems to be the exact opposite of most.
Here I sit in southern Lees Summit (Raintree Lake to be exact) and I receive the new KCMO MARRS system just about perfect.
I have a BCD996XT with a Spider discone antenna mounted in my attic (neighborhood covenants) with about 35' of coax.
Prior to this scanner, and using the same antenna and coax, I used to run a BC796D and could listen to anything in the metro area.
As stated, KCMO P25 is wonderful,----wish they all worked this way.
JOCO P25 is really BAD,--most of the time I don't even listen
INDEP P25 is somewhere "in between",---but good enough that I'm not complaining.
KANSAS P25 is just as good as INDEP.
Go figure,......

Ok this is bizarre. I was about to post that I've had NKC (old and new) programmed into 2 scanners and havent hears a peep from NKCFD. I just heard a dispatch on P-25(first one since Ive been monitoring early this morning). Could it be that its just been a slow day in NKC? Have heard Gladstone quite a bit today.

I was just listening to the MARRS feed that just recently went online here.

Once they get the background noise issue resolved, it should sound pretty good.

My signal is at two or three, sometimes 1 bar(s) with the 396XT, some motor boating, but when it's not, the audio is clear and sounds good... It sounds better than some P25 systems that I've heard before. It's kinda nice hearing what's going on. I guess I've never realized, but Traffic Officers are quite busy. I thought they only made car stops, and the Zone officers didn't. I've heard two Zone Officers stop a car for a violation, and traffic officers making arrests. Kinda seems quiet at 1AM in KC, haven't heard much though. Heard a shooting/stabbing earlier that FD was going to, but that's about it. Now hearing a pursuit, this is what I thought KC was like at 1AM...
