Lately with all the attention the "flash mob" has been getting through the KC area news media, I figured I would start listening to KCMO. I live in Shawnee, KS which is in the North Central Johnson County. I am using my brand new Pro-106 with a 800MHz portable antenna. I programmed the KCMO PD system in using PSRedit. I am hearing

All Call 10-020
CENTER Patrol 10-021
EAST Patrol 10-023
NORTH Patrol 10-025
TRAFFIC 10-027

And thats it. I am straight west of Gregory and State Line by about 5 miles. Can not figure out why I am picking up only the Patrol's that I am and not the others that I would think are closer to my location than the ones that I am hearing. I have tried throughout the neighborhood and while mobile down into Overland Park still with no luck. Am I missing something with regards to something being encrypted or a mistype in the RR database? Everything was imported to PSRedit through my subscription with radioreference.

I am going to give reprogramming a shot and see if maybe it was my error. Any suggestions besides that? Thanks in advance.

I'm willing to bet they're using one of the Special Ops channels for the Plaza stuff. Give these a shot:

1315 10-043 Special Ops 1
1316 10-044 Special Ops 2
1317 10-045 Special Ops 3
1318 10-046 Special Ops 4
1319 10-047 Special Ops 5
1320 10-050 Special Ops 6
1321 10-051 Special Ops 7
1322 10-052 Special Ops 8

Doubtful KCPD is using encryption and you should be able to hear those just fine from your location.

Yeah already have the Special Ops talkgroups in. Special Ops 2 seems to be the group tonight for the Plaza. Everyone seems to be checking in there. Still do not seem to be hearing South or Metro patrol.

North, South, Shoal Creek and Metro frequently use patch talkgroups, especially during high call volumes and weekends.

1896 14-130
1897 14-131
1898 14-132
1899 14-133
1900 14-134
1901 14-135
1902 14-136
1903 14-137

South and Metro usually operate on 14-136 or 14-137, but sometimes KCPD dispatch randomly shuffles around, so they could be on any one of the others. 14-135 has been known to be quite active during crowd disbursements and chases as well.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) Sprint MP6900SP)

They just release0d a firmware update for the PRO-106 that makes it now follow the patches. Check RS's website to download it. It's about time. As someone said earlier, South & Metro are usually patched, and it will now follow them without programming all the patches in.

Thanks for the info. I just uploaded both software updates. Will have to see if that fixes my issue. Thanks again.

EDIT: Appears to be fixed. Currently listening to South. Which I could not pickup before. Thanks!

KCMO PD seems to be back to normal on my Pro-106 after the radio shack download. Did here the dispatcher inform all listening units to "Stand by for an Encrypted message."
